I have read a lot of complaints about the alarm clock not going off, and a lot of ppl being very up about it...I have however NOT read anything about anyone resolving this issue...well i now know why it happens and how to fix it...well not fix it, just stop it from happening...when u turn the alarm off (as in u dont have to wake up early in the morning so u set it to not go off,) u might as well be deleting it, because when u turn it back on, all the settings on it will be reset...so as long as u NEVER turn the alarm off, u will never experience this problem (thats why some ppl never had this problem, like me before.)  When u turn the alarm off from the widget or from the tools section, then turn it back on, u have to select the tone u want to play again, turn the volume up again (because the alarm is going off, thats why the widget always appears on the home screen, its JUST VERY LOW,) then save and u should be waking up when u wanna wake up, and not be kicking yourself cuz u missed an early class =(.

Im the type that usually actually beats my alarm by waking up 5-10 minutes before it goes off...but i noticed since i turned it off a week ago its been acting funny, but i usually wake up anyways so it didnt really bother me...Unfortunately i had a late night last night so i slept threw my alarm, and had a 8:45 class, woke up at around 9...so that was the last straw, i had to take a good look at it, and i figured out what went wrong.

Hello post number 400  Grin I would like to thank my fans, i wouldnt be here without u...and lets not forget my haters, u guys let me know i rock, because if i wasnt so GREAT u wouldnt need to hate me...so thank u...thank u all Cry...those are tears of joy lol.

I was an hour late to work thanks to this alarm's bundle of joy.  It only resets itself sometimes, its weird.

It only does it when u set the alarm to off...what i have been doing because my phone's alarm was pissing me off...everytime i turn it off and am going to turn it back on, i just delete the alarm and remake it over again...when i say turn it off i dont mean when it goes off and u slide ur finger to the off...i mean when u turn it off so it does not go off at all, as in u dont have work/class in the morning and want to sleep in...in those instances just delete the alarm and remake it, because for some reason when i turn mine off and try turning it back on, it wont save the volume level i put, it keeps going to the lowest level so it doesnt wake me up.

I tried out the setting for the alarm when the phone is off...it is SOOOO cool, the alarm still goes off even though the phone is turned off...yea i know its not a big deal, but i was pleasantly surprised. =)

Yea, but the alarms still turns off when you hit stop and don't have it set to repeat every day of the week.. So there's still a big problem there..

For instance, alarm sounds, you stumble over and drag it to stop after a few snoozes and it will automatically switch the original alarm to the off state. This is where it becomes weird because sometimes it breaks and other times it doesn't.. So there's really no way to to keep it from turning off unless you're willing to set it up to repeat every day, which I would not really like to do..

My main curiosity is to know if it's fixed in a later firmware or not.. I'd like to return and swap it out for a new one, but i don't feel like going through the huge hassle if it hasn't been officially fixed..

If u read my post u would of seen this
Quote
everytime i turn it off and am going to turn it back on, i just delete the alarm and remake it over again...when i say turn it off i dont mean when it goes off and u slide ur finger to the off...i mean when u turn it off so it does not go off at all, as in u dont have work/class in the morning and want to sleep in
i believe what u are talking about is the snooze...and everytime i have his snooze, my alarm goes off 15 minutes later (because thats what i set my snooze for.)  The only time this problem occurs is when u manually set the alarm to "off" from ur alarm menu...when i do that i find for some reason it refuses to save my settings when i turn it back on...so instead of turning it back on i just delete it and make it again.

And if you had read my post close enough you would notice I'm not referring to hitting snooze at all. I am literally talking about sliding the alarm to stop while it's sounding. This action sets the alarm button back on the main alarm menu screen to the 'off' state (as in the 'on' and 'off' buttons residing next to each other).

I am not manually turning any alarms to the 'off' state and never had since the beginning of owning this phone. The alarm turns in to the 'off' state automatically once I tell it to stop ringing in the morning (by sliding my finger across). The only way it will stay in the 'on' state after hitting stop is if you have set it up to repeat across multiple days, as I had mentioned in my original post.

This is where things get hairy because my alarms always go back in to the off state once i've hit stop and it's a shot in the dark whether the settings get reset or not.. sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.. but it is most certainly not due to any manual action of putting the alarm back in to the 'off' state by hand as in your situation..

Yea thats never happened to me...my alarm only messes up when i actually turn it off so it does not ring on a day when i dont need to get up...have never had it happen when i turn my alarm off cuz its ringing, the only thing that happens then is the widget goes onto my screen, and i hate this...the only widget i have on screen is the one that tells me the date, i hate having things cover my wallpaper.

totally agree.. annoying as all get out.. just wish we could confirm whether a fix has been addressed in a future firmware.. i'd take it back in a second if i knew it would mean no more missed alarms.. just still trying to hold out and see a little longer though..

I see it's been about 5 months since anyone has posted, Has anyone found a fix for this problem?

I have the same problem. I have my alarm set for Monday thru Friday. I never turn the alarm off. I do silence it in the morning after it goes off by sliding the slider to off. About every week ot two my alarm does not go off. When I look at my phone it has the icon on the screen as if it did go off but no sound. I go into my settings for the alarm and the volume is set all the way up. I do know if you disable the alarm all the settings go back to defult.

This really sucks. I've been late to work several times this year.

Thanks

Try restarting your phone.  Mine has the same problem.  Is your alarm docked on your widget??  I am leaving mine docked on my widget, instead of dragging it onto the home screen, I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but I guess it's worth a try.

I usually turn my phone off and then back on every 3 or 4 days. I don't leave it on the main screen. I put it with all the other widgets. Soon as I turn it off in the morning I move it back.

Your best bet JB is to use another alarm clock. sometimes this is an issiue with my impression but not lately. You may have to create a new alarm each night to get it to work...try different things out.

I don't know if it is relevent.

But, My alarmclock widget is normally in the widget bar..

However, this morning, my alarm clock widget was on the desktop... and that was the first time it ever "failed" to dial.. so I was on hour late to work.

It would have hypothetically been worse.. I normally take a shower and stuff before work.. so I woulda been 2 hours had I not skipped my shower and breakfast.
