i keep my alarm docked (not on the desktop) and still have this problem randomly. the other day both mine and my wifes failed the same morning and we were both more than an hour late for work. that brought me here to figure things out.

i suspect this alarm issue is related to the 'textbug' issue too. many people with the textbug describe similar symptoms of the screen lighting up but not vibrating or ringing (like our alarm problem) and turning the phone off and on fixes the problem for some period of time. i have also had some funny things with texting and not receiving calls so i think i have both issues.

Mine has been super random since day one, in fact just did it to me this morning after months of normal operation. Whats strange is I have been shutting it off in every way possible, from leaving it active so the little yellow alarm clock icon is at the top of the screen, to turning it off completley and had no problems...only to have it randomly reset & sleep right through the bastard. Maybe I'm off to AT&T for a replacement...or Target for a wicked loud alarm Smiley

Maybe my phone has the alarm clock corrected, I dunno.  I don't have to slide a bar across or anything though.

I have an alarm set to go off at 5 AM and at 5:30 AM on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday where even the vibration is loud enough to wake up to, plus the ringtone is audible as well.  Further, the snooze is set to "off," and Auto Power is set to "on".  As for silencing the alarm, all I press is the End/Power button (under the G in SAMSUNG) once.  Maybe it's different for using the snooze option, which I used only once so far and don't recall an error . . . however, I did power cycle the phone due to the texting bug, which could have corrected the alarm issue as well.

I upgraded due to AT&T's rude desire to require the $30/month smartphone data plan!  So, I have an unlimited messaging plan only.

Just a quick update: today I experienced the alarm clock bug.
As mentioned above, I have a 5 AM and a 5:30 AM alarm set for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday only.  I press the "End call" button to stop the alarm from ringing; I don't use the on-screen slider, if that's what is referred to above.

I did edit the 5:30 AM one to add Friday last week, and removed Friday check-box from the options for the 5:30 AM alarm.  The alarm clock still worked fine on Sunday, but with one battery bar showing, I thought it would last the night at least.  I somehow woke up on my own at about 5:10 AM Monday to see the Impression was powered-down.  I was surprised that it didn't play the annoying "low battery" sounder all night; I am not that much of a deep sleeper to miss it!

Anyway, after charging on an iGo vehicle charger and powering on the Impression, the alarm icon mysteriously entered the home screen from the widget bar by itself.  After this incident, I don't really think it's coincidence as the alarm bug hit my Impression!  Luckily, I somehow woke up at 5:05 AM today on my own, and noticed the alarm clock "going off," but it seemed to be in a muted state.  Next, I checked to see if it was in "Silent Mode" (as I have done that when I am at work), but it was in "Normal Mode".  Then, I checked the volume, and it was set to high.

Not sure if it is pertinent, but I had listened to a song from memory card -- via the internal music player -- and didn't close the player the night before.  A slight possibility is that the music player didn't release the audio controller for the alarm clock, in my instance at least.  However, I am still leaning toward the alarm clock icon moved from the widget bar and landing in the home screen area as causing the error, as it's never done that since I used the Impression.

Edit: I just checked the 5:00 & 5:30 AM settings, and they were set to "ring only" and at 0 volume.  I know for a fact that it was set to "vibration & ring," as some days I forgot to resume the Impression to "Normal Mode" from "Silent Mode" and the vibration had woke me up on those days.  Again, I blame the alarm clock icon moving from the widget bar to the home screen on it's own for the confusion.

I created an alarm to wake up for an ebay auction that ended at 4am and the stupid thing didn't go off.

I just saw this thread, but has there been a fix or workaround for this yet? I didn't turn the alarm off and then it didn't work; I created a new alarm and it never went off the 1st time.
