My alarms are constantly being reset after reboot and it's realllly irritating... It's not the whole alarm, just a lot of the settings including: snooze on/off, snooze duration, snooze repeat, alarm type, alarm tone, and alarm volume. Alarm Name, Alarm Time, and Alarm Repeat seem to stay and won't be reset.

As just a heads up, I create all of my alarms on my phone right off the bat for as many as the phone can handle. So when I got the impression I created 10 alarms ranging from ~7am to ~10am in 20 min increments (7:00, 7:20, 7:40, 8:00, 8:20 and so on). I do this so i don't have to make another alarm again, I just set whatever time slots I want to wake up to On and know the alarm will go off. So, you can see how frustrating it is when 10 alarm presets constantly are getting reset in snooze settings, vibration/melody, sound file, and sound volume.

It doesn't seem to happen with an immediate reboot, only a complete turn off and leave off for a certain amount of time and then turn back on. Sometimes I turn the phone off if battery is low and I don't have a charger around.

So is this happening to anyone else or is my phone on the fritz? Try creating some alarms and set your snooze settings, vibration/melody options, a sound file and volume. Then turn your impression off for a good 30 min or so and see if they get reset to: Snooze=Off, Type=Melody, Tone=Morning Melody.mp3, Volume=1. If it's a common bug, samsung needs to know about it.

Thanks everyone,
dave

I have noticed the alarm is a bit wonky. I'm unsure as to what the cause is, but I've been 99% sure I had it set properly only to wake up late. I only have 2 alarms setup though. They are multi-day alarms. I've not had any problem in the past 2 weeks though, as I've been using the same alarm for that time.

thanks for the reply WLH7M..

so the mystery continues... my first alarm goes off this morning and it's the default ringer because everything reset this past weekend and i've yet to fix them (again). so I turn the alarm off and 20 minutes later my second alarm goes off and it's the set to the original sound file, volume setting, and snooze options that were there a week ago! So weird!

I went through the rest of the alarms I made and about 3 or 4 of them went back to the correct settings I manually put in. The rest restored the correct snooze settings but kept the sound file to 'morning melody'. I did absolutely nothing to change this. I was checking the settings last night before bed and when I woke up, this is what occurred.. I have no idea.

Also, just as another note. my girlfriend also has the impression and she's noticed alarms not going off in the past like they're supposed to..

I'd really like to start tracking this and seeing if there's a connection at all and possibly a repeating thread.. Please post any oddities that people have with the alarm and alarm settings.. I'd really like to see if we can pinpoint any specific issues to report back to samsung..

thanks all,
dave

I just have one alarm set [weekday, 0600], but it has not failed me yet. I will try and add some more alarms and see if they hold.
What software version is your phone?

You're not alone, Dave.  My alarms are all whack.  Seems like they have a mind of their own.  I've learned that I need to double-check the alarm settings every night to see if the gremlins have been at play!

Seriously.... it's a bad bug that needs to be fixed!

Is there a later one because going to Software Update does nothing on my impression. Would be curious to know if there is a later firmware..

well that's somewhat of a relief.. in a not relieving sort of way (not in the i'm happy you have problems as well way).. Smiley

but at least it's a start if others are having similar issues. this is probably one of the few really bad quirks that makes me not like this phone.. and i love this phone!

I have version A877UCID3. As far as I know, it wasn't an update, but a new version put on later built phones [mine was built on 5/29/09]. I have heard of no way to update one version to another. Mine came w/ it.

I too was wondering if there was a fix for this, been setting my alarm every day all week now and instead of waking me up the alarm just kinda turns off.  I even make sure the little "alarm is set" icon is up on my screen before I go to sleep.  It is a bit of a pain in the posterior.

That's interesting.. So you have a relatively new one (less than a month).. Mine's about 2 months old now.. I'm gonna dig samsung's site and see if there's a bug report section.. Maybe if enough of us complain.. I'd really like to see a firmware update at some point if several of us have different versions. Thanks iacchus..
