Like many others, my Impression has suffered from a severe screen malfunction.  It's probably repairable but i lack the determination and skill to do so.

So, the search for a phone that offers me all the glory of the impression at the same data cost begins.

I have a Droid for my work phone and love it, anyone know if there is an ATT Droid that has the same Data Rate as the Impression?

When I looked into upgrading to a smartphone (captivate) it would actually cost me less for data if I were to go with the cheaper plan ($15) compared to what I pay now for the impression.

$15 is the standard data plan for non smart phones. Cheaper if on family plan. And only $10 if with combo text/data. And it is unlimited.

The smartphone plan which includes ALL android is $15 for ONLY 200MB.

Yes, i'm currently on a family plan Unlimited data/text.

If i get an Android phone and use my Sim card are they going to change my plan and charge me? Will it even work?

they know. i tried to do that with the iphone 4 and they texted me and told me they see that i have a phone that needs a different data plan and that they will switch me automatically to the plan for my phone. everytime i switch my phones sim card to a different phone they know. it even shows up on my online account as the phone that i am using at the time. i tried to sneek one by them but bastards know what kind of phone you are using. model number and all. good luck with that.

Try using a samsung vibrant from t-mobile. It can be unlocked for free to use an ATT sim. With a little modding they will even work with ATT 3G. And ATT won't detect it.

Been using a HTC HD2 from australia for over a year and I am still on my impreession data plan.

If you try an iphone, Blackberry, nexus one, or any ATT smart phone, ATT will pick up the change almost immediately and adjust your plan automatically.
