Block Data for Apps and Media Net in 5 easy steps

This is for people who do not have a data package and don't want someone to accidentally go into your browser and start racking up your bills.

Step 1) Create a Dummy Network
Easiest way is go menu/settings/connectivity/network profiles and hit create.  No need to fill out anything. Just hit save. A Connection 1 network profile that does nothing was just made.  Go back to main screen.

Now you have to set everything to use it.

Step 2) Redirect Medianet and CV
For Medianet--Menu/settings/application settings/browser/browser profiles and put a tick in connection 1
For CV--Menu/settings/application settings/CV and select Connection 1


Step 3) Redirect Games & Apps folder
Now you have to disable all the installed java applications.
menu/Games & Apps/more and select Connections
 
Up top you will see default. Select it and put a tick in the connection 1 profile. Now all your apps will use the dummy profile and will not be able to connect.


Step 4) Check OPTIONAL
Just click on medianet and cv and if they still connect then you have done something wrong and go back above and check to make sure you did everything right. Then go into Games & Apps and check on a program that requires data (any program will do that requires it).


Step 5) Enjoy!
Enjoy not having to worry about those surprise data charges to your bill.


***Update***
Today I was trying to send a picture message to my friend and I kept on receiving an error message. Thought it was funny, knew that I had changed my media net network so I wouldn't use any data and wouldn't get random data charges. Went and put media net back onto its original network instead of my dummy network and was able to send pictures.

So my conclusion is if you cannot send pictures (don't know about receiving and have changed your media net network to a dummy network change it back because your MMS uses it to send the pics 

Check your phone punisher. go to settings/application settings/messaging/Multimedia Message/MMS Profiles and make sure that is set to MMS and not Medianet. I suspect yours might be on medianet.

Set up the fake profile (connection1), then went along each of your steps. When I went in the change the profiles for these individual apps it would not allow me to select the fake profile. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes.

And when I select the dummy connection it opens the properties for the connection. So I hit save there and it goes back to the list of connections and the bubble next to Media net is still checked. It won't allow me to 'select' the dummy profile as the one I want to use.

Worked like a champ.... probably just saved me $100 in data charges from my daughters new phone!
