Another quick note about SIM cards.... a while back when I was on my SIM card kick I switched from my original 4103 G card to a 4104 D card, and even went to ebay and bought and tried a 4102 D card. I hoped that even though people with all three numbers were reporting in as having the bug that MAYBE different SIM cards would work better/worse based on network connections in different areas of the country.

Wasted effort, I've now tried all three cards in the Houston area and still have the bug regardless of which SIM card I had activated.

I've often wondered if some upper lever tech at AT&T that knew what he was doing had two phone numbers, one known to have the problem, and one known to not have the problem, could he go into their system and compare every setting and connection parameter that it's possible to compare and see if there's something different between the two.

On a side note, most of the info I found on SIM numbers I also posted on the AT&T forum. I had a moderator send me a private message to refrain from posting proprietary information. I messaged him back to explain everything I found was from simple google searches and was out there on the net if you dig deep enough and put the right words and numbers in your search string.

I posted there just to make sure there was active discussion about this right there under their noses on their own AT&T forum.

Has anyone had good luck talking to this Kevin Hicks guy? I have been through two impressions, new sim card, and having my connection "reset" and my messaging still gets hung up every now and again.

On the other hand, I just talked to customer service today and told them I was on my second impression, and just got a new sim card, and had my connection reset previously. So they looked into it and said my sim card # and imei numbers didn't match what they had in their system. So they corrected that in their system. I will continue using my phone and will keep you updated on if my phone still gets the messaging bug.

I have talked to him and he has really helped me out.  Try calling him.  Tell him that you have been through a couple and see what he says.

OK, I have another possible solution for everyone. Although you may feel that the impression is the only phone with this issue I am finding it is not. Seems phones are getting stuck trying to send text messages by 3G. Even widndow mobiles phones. And a possible fix for them is to send text messages by gsm only.

I havent dug too far into the internals to look for a perfect adjustment just for text messages but some can try this.

Go to your admin menu
*#6984125*#

Select 'Network and call settings'

For some #3 might be 'network mode' and #4 might be 'network order'. And some will not have 'network mode' because of newer sim.  I have 'network mode'.

If you have the text bug and you have 'network mode' select it.  Put a tick in GSM only and hit select. This will turn your 3G off so if you have a data plan you may not want to do this. If you dont have data this will not hurt anything.

If you dont have 'Network mode' select 'Network order'. You can try this if you do have 'network mode' too as it wont hurt and can only help. Put a tick in GSM first and hit save.

Will changing the mode from 3G to GSM only affect picture messages too, as they use the 3G network?

I assume it would, and not sure as to what the actual speeds are, so how much slower would a picture message be on GSM compared to 3G?

That is the whole point as to have the message sent over edge instead of 3G.
It wont make that much of a difference for just messages. I am trying to fix the text message issue.

The only people that might not want to change to 'gsm only' are those with a data plan in a 3G area. But then again this is only temporary to find a possible fix.  You can always change back.

So i guess ill be sure by like tomorrow since i can't text all day anymore cause I got new classes with meaner teachers and they don't let me text during class lol
Edit: It didn't work.  Cry Cry Cry

Hey Agoattamer, do you think switching it to network mode and then switching it back could reset anything and make a possible fix? Or do you think that is not possible? I guess I could try it and let you know lol. I just want to make sure I can get it back because i have a data plan Smiley

I did what you said Agoattamer and under network order it says GSM first or WCDMA first. Will it hurt me if I do GSM first? I have a data plan, but I still am receiving a 3g signal after I selected GSM first. Just thought I would let you know!

Everything can be changed back easily as you change it now. GSM first should not hurt anything.

I have been dealing with this same problem for months now. For the last few weeks been doing the whole run around with at&t and samsung. They have sent me 2 replacement phones that still do the same thing.  I have to call their 800 number yet again first thing when I wake up so that they may send me a whole new make and model of phone.  From what I have been hearing from both ends of the fence is that they are not aware of this problem, I have sent them links to both this post and even the 6page long one on at&t's very own site. But just to let you all know, we have to do something more I guess to open their eyes to the fact that this is a major problem and its with more than just one or 2 people who are having it.

Some rep from ATT chat told me they knew about the problem and were doing nothing about it.
