If this is a bug what would happen if maybe you re-wrote the Samsung impression text messaging code(if you could find the genuine code first)and maybe replaced or just changed a certain part of the code? I know this may sound crazy but maybe it would work?

who knows.
i contacted AT&T and they asked for my IMEI # and they said they took it out of the system then put it back in (or something like that) to refresh my account (i guess) and i still get the bug every now and then. I also had the Pantech Impact before the impression and i exchanged phones thinking it was just the phone that had problems.
but nope AT&T is starting to piss me off.

The text bug got me again today!  This time, I noticed that I had 26 Inbox texts, 3 Sent texts, and "lucky number 30" was the one that was to be sent, but was saved in the Outbox.   I wonder if setting the phone capacity beyond 30 would stop the issue, if anyone figured out how to do that yet?

Long-time Cingular/AT&T user; I've owned & used these devices, in order from oldest to newest: LG CE500, Motorola ROKR E1, Samsung Sync, HTC 8525, & Samsung Impression [AT&T replacing it with the LG Vu Plus].

I upgraded due to AT&T's rude desire to require the $30/month smartphone data plan!  So, I have an unlimited messaging plan only.

I decided to put more fire up Samsung's a$$ again.  This is outright disturbingly poor customer service!
Quote from:  Impressive
I want to complain about the sliding qwerty keyboard having issues. First is that pressing the spacebar twice (or sometimes once) inserts a period, when unwanted. Second, the qwerty keyboard skips letters that are pressed by quick texting. I would like a fix to make it faster or at least catch up to the keys pressed.

Next, at least 250 people and myself are still waiting for the over-the-air text bug fix that was promised by the end of last month. This issue is very annoying, to say the least. It is very pathetic that the Impression has been on the market over a year and the correction hasn't been found yet! This is a total disregard of customer service and a blatant display of indifference toward Impression users!

I am about ready to attempt to unlock the Impression and try what the Europeans do to their mobiles. If Samsung doesn't fix this issue, I will purchase the special box (NSPRO, SPTBOX, or any other that works on the A877) to unlock, unfreeze, and whatever else it is able to do!

If you won't take time to fix this, allow other programmers (Impression end-users) access to look into the problem, since the Impression is not worth your time anymore.

After sending the same note twice, I got another reply.  The first time, I got a canned reply, so I copied my entire comments and used a new subject name.  So, it looks like they are underacheivers, as they are yet again stalling another month, whereas they said it would be out at the end of last month!
Thank you for your inquiry. There is a software release in development for the SGH-A877 (Impression) to address the issue with texting. The software release is expected to be available for public release this month.

Your continued interest in Samsung products is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Come to reality and realize there will be no update. Amazingly it has made it over a year old and no update for the text bug in that time. It will not be long before the phone is discontinued. I can almost guarantee that there will be no update.

I echo AGoat..

Samsung is usually in the business of providing NEW PHONES as updates.  They figure you want an update, buy a new phone.

This is THE BEST non smart phone out there, BUT is will still not get an update.  It will be obsolete soon, so they figure why waste the money/time.

There is no way we would know this. Who knows....it may go for another month or another year. It actually was a very good phone despite the text bug. It probably depends on what ATT still has in stock.

What do you guys think? I have about another 8 months to go till my contract expires with my Lg vu. Its touch screen has been kinda not responsive lately. For example, often when i type, the touch screen thinks i hit a different key on the other side of the keyboard or something. I could get the samsung impression for $130 after rebate. What do you guys think i should do?

This question is off-topic, but I will give a quick reply.  I upgraded to a 2-year extension at Best Buy for the Impression for free.  If that is what you want to do, and are willing to power on/off your Impression if you are a heavy texter, that is the way to go!
