I sent Samsung one more message on their website just now.   I wonder if they will have the decency to respond to it?  Time will tell!  If they do, I will post the response here as well.  Onto my message to them:
Quote from: Impressive
Samsung's lack of customer support has led me to contact the Better Business Bureau.  AT&T ended up dealing with the brunt of the customer service, as they are who the user purchased the Impression with.  AT&T just lies down and plays dead, offering a different device instead of hounding the manufacturer to fix it.

After two directly blatant empty promises of the firmware update, I officially give up hope for the Impression.  It is the best non-smartphone I've seen with so much potential in the widgets bar, with the only exceptions being the poor quality QWERTY sliding keyboard response and the unfixed software/firmware issues with the Alarm clock and text messaging bug. The worst part: it's been on the market for over a year and no sign of empathy or support for the customers.

I was greatly impressed with the A707 Sync, and had high expectations for the Impression.  I was deeply disappointed however, and then the technical support wasn't present.  With this poor experience, I will not be likely to choose a Samsung mobile phone -- let alone other electronic devices -- from Samsung in the future.  This pejorative customer service loses all of my trust in Samsung's name and quality in their products.

Long-time Cingular/AT&T user; I've owned & used these devices, in order from oldest to newest: LG CE500, Motorola ROKR E1, Samsung Sync, HTC 8525, & Samsung Impression [AT&T replacing it with the LG Vu Plus].

I upgraded due to AT&T's rude desire to require the $30/month smartphone data plan!  So, I have an unlimited messaging plan only.

Thank you for your inquiry.  We understand your distress concerning the issue being experienced with your Impression.  We are committed to your satisfaction and would like to ask your assistance in resolving this issue.

In order to provide our product analysts with the details that are pertinent to the isolation, duplication, and resolution of this issue, we ask that you contact us again with additional information concerning the following:

°         What software version is currently on your device?  This can be viewed by dialing *#1234#.

°         What is the signal strength at the time of this occurrence?

°         Does this occur when sending text messages, multimedia messages, or both?

°         Does this occur when sending messages to users on the at&t network, on another network, or both?

°         Is there an error message that appears on your device?  Example: Error?  Try again?

°         What specific action is being taken at the time of the error?  In example, does the error occur while talking, typing, sending, or receiving messages?  Is there a specific set of circumstances that can be identified in which this error occurs?

°         Is the message you are sending segmented?  This means that the message is more than 160 characters in length and will be sent in multiple messages.  Is this the point where the issue occurs?

°         Are there any other details you can provide that may assist us in duplicating this?

In the meantime, powercycling your Impression should restore normal operation to your device.  We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this presents.

We look forward to your response.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We appreciate your continued interest in Samsung products.

Sincerely,

Technical Support
Obviously, they are either morons, or illiterate!  They can't deduce that I am getting rid of the Impression from what I said?  The last paragraph says I give up on Samsung, yet they want me to continue to favor them?  Then, it's the same BS questions as their reply a month ago!  If anyone here finds fixes for the three errors, I may buy the Impression again.

I just read that the LG Vu Plus was released in June.  It is only about a month old, so it may not have any support (a.k.a. hacks) for it yet!  I just hope that I can USB the jar/jad files to it, like I can with the Impression!

Hi all, I've had the text bug for some time now. It seems to get progressively worse (meaning I have to restart it more often).  I have called ATT and they say that they have fixed the problem that my phone was having.  They had me turn it off, then they said they updated it or something, then turn it back on.  This fixed  the problem for about a week.  Now it is getting worse and worse.

Thought I'd show that I contacted ATT and the bug didn't go away.

Surprisingly, I got the LG today (a day after the rep talked to me)!  I will start a new thread, if anyone wants to hear about it, I think it will go in the off-topic area.

Take care my Impression friends!

I wrote Samsung one last time, with my original comment at the bottom of the quote.  This is my last "dis" of Samsung for this issue, and they don't seem to understand the English language at all!  Unless it's their attempt at sarcasm, but I don't know which:

Faulty device
The sliding keyboard not inserting letters, doubling some letters, not adding spaces, and adding periods when not needed is a major pain to the text messaging user. I was patiently waiting for the firmware fix for 2 months as promised already. I was also content with powercycling the Impression to temporarily fix the text messaging issue, but when the alarm clock would mute the volume and switch off the wake with vibration (as other owners have mentioned), that was the last straw!

So, I have given up hope that the firmware will be corrected, as it's occurred for over a year and it's still being investigated? The count is nearly at 300 registered forum members at samsung-impression.org who report they have the text messaging issue all over the USA. This does not include other owners who don't search on the internet for help or answers to their problems, and just begrudgingly deal with them.

As for the below questions, they have been answered a month ago by me. Nothing has changed in how I use the Impression. AT&T has offered me a brand-new LG Vu Plus in exchange for the 2-month old, bug-filled Impression for no additional cost, so I took that offer as Samsung makes empty promises to correct their firmware.

I am still boycotting any Samsung brand product, be it mobile phone, TV, DVD player, or anything electronics-based. I have had enough abuse from this lack of technical support with the Impression to know that Samsung's apathy toward current customers' happiness with their products. I will certainly dissuade friends, family, and anyone on the street who are interested in a Samsung product to steer far, far away from that brand!

try this and please reply your results after a few days of use: go into the admin settings by dialing *#6984125*#  then the last option is feature settings, then the last option again is DRM master reset, the phone will reboot pretty quickly after clicking this.

I know that doesnt sound like it would be a logical fix, and maybe the full master reset i done had something to do with it, but all i know is i use to have to reboot my phone 4-5 times a day and since i done a master reset then a DRM master reset i havent had a problem with this bug. at least not yet.

I've done this before.

I've gone through about 2/3 bill cycles without text bug (I text about 200-600 texts each cycle.)

Well today has been a pretty light texting day for me but i havent hit the bug yet and sent+ received is at 208 right now. usually for me that would be at least 2 phone reboots or so. if it isnt a permanent fix its still a whole lot better then without doing it.

Thanks for the help on this Reamer. I would like to hear more opinions from others with this problem if they put the effort forth to do both resets. You would be a hero to many if this does work.  Wink
