I used to have text bug everyday. Did master reset (for the color scheme thing), then did DRM reset just to see what would happen.

Bug free for about a month or two.  Grin

I got the Impression just over a month ago. I wish I had known about this issue beforehand. My phone freezes up when I launch the camera. It freezes for about 30 seconds and then automatically reboots. Then the camera works fine. It has only frozen on me once while texting. It also froze on my once when I launched MediaNet.

So, I took the phone back to AT&T. They gave me a new phone right there in the store, since it was less than 30 days. After a couple of days, the same issues came up with the replacement. I went back to the AT&T store and they told me that since I was past the 30 days since receiving the original phone, I would have to deal with the AT&T Warranty Department. After explaining the problem with them, they were going to send me a refurbished phone. They also told me that since it was past the 30 days, I could not return the phone for a switchout to another model.

Well, I am not a happy camper with AT&T. I have been using the same service for years from when they were Bellsouth Wireless, then Cingular, to AT&T Wireless. I also use them for my internet service.

Time to start rethinking about who I am spending my money on.

Wow. I haven't had any of the problems you are having. But i agree about AT&T. In October when my contract is up I am definitely going with either T-Mobile or Verizon. I'm jumping on the Android boat and to get one through AT&T, you might as well get the iPhone... and I'll be damned if I do that. Haha.

Had the phone since January, used the slide out keyboard, and have had this problem from day one.  Recently began using the virtual keyboard for about a month.  Have ahd to turn it off about 3 times since then, as opposed to the at least 5 times a day with the slide out keyboard.

I will test by going back to the physical keyboard and see what happens.  I fear that the same problem will persist.  Another problem I had with the physical was when a lot of characters were in a text, it began slowing down the display rate and missing characters that id type.  The space button became especially troublesome, randomly not putting any spaces or adding double spaces, making for a confusing text.  The virtual keyboard shows no sign of slowing while typing, and only messes up because I'm not crisp at typing with it yet.

If the same problems persist I'm going to go O_o at why I bought a phone specifically for the slide out keyboard, which I loved barring those few drawbacks, when all I use is the virtual.

Update to follow: Physical keyboard test, commencing.

Depending on which keyboard, I don't see how it could change the outcome, but it never crossed my mind cause I've been using the virtual keyboard the whole time. I'm use to the Eternity so it was natural for me to use it with the Impression. You maybe onto something with this.

I use the physical keyboard amost 100% of the time.
I get the text bug every couple of weeks.

To those that may be curious to which keyboard I use (virtual or physical)...I use the physical keyboard.

And like I said before:

I use the physical pad mostly I randomly use the touch screen depend on how lazy I am.

Out of curiosity I wonder how many people have the impression unlocked, cause I couldn't get at&t to let me upgrade my phone with out paying full price for new phone, I just unlocked my phone and since then  phone been bug free but then maybe it just in my mind that that fixed it, but then since then i also added  and removed games from my phone too.


As for firmware updates for the phone there they are handled by the New PC Studio from Samsung. and If when you go to upgrade the firmware the server wont connect it, just means there is no firmware update. Which is what i found out when AT&T told me to do this thinking there was firmware update and digging around on the web

Either way I going android once it upgrade time, anyone know if the Samsung captive has limit on ring tone sizes?

talked to warranty again today to see if i could switch to the new vu.  They had me do the reset settings from the settings menu, and wait to see if anything happens.  Thats a different approach since the last time I talked to them so maybe they are trying something new...or just running me in circles Undecided

Good news everyone!

I've been suffering with the text bug for over four months, since I got the phone. Every day, at least 3 times, ranging up to 7. It was honestly burdening my everyday life. And yesterday, I believe I've fixed this specific bug. By unlocking the phone. I haven't had the problem since.

Contact AT&T and tell them you're going overseas and that you need your unlock code. They'll give you a 7-9 digit code, and some bullshit on how you need to put a new sim card in for overseas, etc. Write down that code and forget everything else they tell you. Go on your Impression, go to Dial, and type in:

#7465625*638*YOUR UNLOCK CODE HERE#

Your Impression will then prompt it's been unlocked, and bam, no more bug!  Grin

Maybe it is a coincidence. I unlocked my phone 3 days after I got it, and had text bug almost everyday since I got unlimited texting 'till about a month or two ago.
