Good news everyone!

I've been suffering with the text bug for over four months, since I got the phone. Every day, at least 3 times, ranging up to 7. It was honestly burdening my everyday life. And yesterday, I believe I've fixed this specific bug. By unlocking the phone. I haven't had the problem since.

Contact AT&T and tell them you're going overseas and that you need your unlock code. They'll give you a 7-9 digit code, and some bullshit on how you need to put a new sim card in for overseas, etc. Write down that code and forget everything else they tell you. Go on your Impression, go to Dial, and type in:

#7465625*638*YOUR UNLOCK CODE HERE#

Your Impression will then prompt it's been unlocked, and bam, no more bug!  Grin

yah that is why I asked if people phones were unlocked or not, Cause ever since I unlocked my phone 3 weeks again I have not had the problem. Im hoping this is what fixed it, that or is has something to do with the fact I been using the touch screen to txt lately as opposed to  the keypad.  Either way I been free of the bug since I did the unlock so I hoping it gone

I have my phone unlocked and I rarely get the text bug. I can't tell for sure because I don't text as much as I used to but it's safe to say I haven't had the text bug for a while.

talked to warranty again today to see if i could switch to the new vu.  They had me do the reset settings from the settings menu, and wait to see if anything happens.  Thats a different approach since the last time I talked to them so maybe they are trying something new...or just running me in circles Undecided

Yeah, this was completely pointless.  They sent me another "fixed phone that doesn't have this problem." I may see how many I can exchange between now and January 7th when my warrenty ends. I'm on number 3 now.  Grin

So has anybody else tried calling AT&T and telling them to unlock the phone? Encouraging that both of you have had good results but before I call them I'd like to hear some more input from other people on here.

This is just be but since day one of getting my impression Ive had the text bug. and i had to turn off my phone and restart it about 3 times a day. i go back to the AT&T store where i live and i get the same phone brand new like i did before and the same thing happened again. Ive tried taking out my battery and turning my phone off and then back on but nothing works, not for me at least.

I've had to turn my phone off and on more times than I can count! I also had my phone replaced 3 times within the warrenty period which was useless. Will try the unlock code next. This is such a terrible bug of the phone/service that it really makes you rethink your decision to get it. Otherwise I love this phone, especially the keyboard since I text a lot.

I've been struggling with this problem for over a year since I got the phone. I called today for the unlock code and unlocked my phone. I will let you guys know the outcome in a day or so because I always have to restart my phone 3-6 times a day already.

Ok so i have the texting bug Cry, ive owned this phone for over a year and im a heavy texter, and lately it seems like i restart my phone over 10 times a day and im very fed up with it, to the point of wanting to smash my phone with a hammer. There has been no serious damage to my phone, ive only droped it once or twice, but that seemed to not effect anything. ive had this problem since day one, but at that time i was restarting it once every 4 days or so and thought nothing of it. At my house i average at about 4 bars, and always have 3g coverage. i dont have a data plan. i have not contacted At&t with my problem yet.

My phone is a refurb. Im almost positive that it does not have to do with the number of texts on your phone, because i delete all Inbox, sent, outbox, and drafts once an hour to help reduce my phone from freezing, it does not seem to help however. also when i send the message and lock it the screen stays lit for an extended period of time and the arrow pointing to the lock button does not move like it usually does. When it freezes i cannot send any messages to anyone, and lags really terribly. Also it does not allow me to delete the message i was sending or any other message. Occasionally when it freezes it will scroll down to the bottom of the screen but not bounce back like it usually does it will just show the white background. There is no specific time that this happens, it happens at completly random times. Ive toyed around in the internals, but havent tried anything serious because im afraid ill brick it.

Ive read this entire thread, does anyone know of a permanant fix? im about to just spend the money and get a new phone becuase i still have another year to go before an upgrade.

here is my phones info
Im located in Oklahoma if that helps you figure out if its in only in specific locations
software version: A877UCID3
sim card # 4104
Need anything other info?

I have the exact same problem but worse, mine freezes and i will only have about 15 messages in my inbox, and about 15 in my outbox so a total of 30 text in my phone, and it still freezes and the text are very short and simple, nothing big that takes up alot of space. Have and solutions been found, or any efforts towards fixing this issues because im about to change to a new phone company because i feel at&t should be handling this issue and they have just been running me in circles, and im not happy about it.

As previously stated, I continue to experience this problem and find this entire situation to be absurd.  We paid good money for these phones, with the expectation that they would work correctly.  If the manufacturers and carriers are going to hold the consumers to these multi year contracts, they should at least be held accountable for the quality of the product they are selling.  In this case it sounds like Samsung just doesn't want to deal with an issue on (what they probably consider) and "older" phone.  I'm not eligible for an upgrade until February, and was strongly considering the new Samsung Captivate (Droid!) as a replacement.  I'm having second thoughts now, as my confidence in Samsung has significantly waned.  Too bad....
