I use the Bolt Beta browser and Opera Mini. Both display full web pages, although I prefer Bolt for its chatpad support (Opera only has dial-pad support). Be sure to find a fullscreen version of it though.

What is the difference?

I do have the full screen Opera bowser, and I like the ability to see the whole page, and then zoom into the section I want.

I have two impression phones here and am trying to decide if i should take them in and upgrade or keep them and wait for some better browser abilities.

I hate the default media net, and i installed operamini its decent BUT can't get it to recognize the qwerty keyboard (unless I am missing something very basic here), on the landscape mode i have this dumb silver menubar taking up 20% of my screen, just wish i could turn that off and get the qwerty working.

Trying to decide is it worth it to keep and hope for better browser less bugs soon, or return and upgrade to the iphone 3g.

I did ask about those two operamini questions in the operamini forums yet no replies so im guessing its just too new to have support for my qwerty on the impression and i dont know how to remove that annoying grey menu (other than those things, the opeamini shows promise).

I did download bolt as well but didn't care for it, any others I should try before just returning the phones?

I tried skyfire too but was pretty sure (and now confirmed) it wont work with the impression Sad

Do you mean the dpad?

You can get a full screen one ::starts rummaging through her computer:: "I know I put it in here somewhere"  Cheesy

I will post it when I find it.

Ok I am dumb, i tried to get to this forum via my medianet browser on the phone (to get that jad file) yet its says gateway error, if i type in samsung-impression.org also same message gateway error.

I cant get the qwerty to work in miniopera so im a bit stuck on how to get that file onto my phone, tried using the pc tool and moved it into pictures folder says invalid picture, im just not that phone smart i guess, the silver bar thing on landscape mode is the directional, 123, ... and ... keys i was hoping to get that off the screen and get the qwerty keyboard on the impression working with this operamini 4.2 browser on the impression.

Yes the silver bar is what is called a dpad, and yes oprea mini does have full screen.  You need to make an account on http://www.samsung-eternity.com/

I would go here with your home computer,  http://www.samsung-eternity.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1328.0;attach=1208

Then when you get the file downloaded to your home computer, use the home computer to go to this site > http://www.davidpye.com/index.php?page=freewap

Upload the jad file by clicking on the "browse" button and locating it on your computer, hit submit.

Then one your Phone go to the web page posted.

Let me know if you need any more assistance :;smile;:

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Is this just a modified build of the operamini 4.2 i downloaded off their main page originally?

When i went to install it (after using that website to upload it off the pc) it said same file exists but i over wrote it anyways just to see if there was a difference.

I can't believe it but it worked, i have full browser in landscape mode (that goofy silver menu bar is gone), and when i go to enter a website url i get this weird sideways keypad area but if i tap the blue texbox screen goes black allowing me to use the full qwerty here!

Having this will make using my impression worth keeping, vs upgrading phones and data plans, so again thanks bigtime on this!

Anyway to make the application into a widget vs having to go into games and click operamini?

Yes, this is the exact same file as the one you had on your phone, it had the dpad removed.

They used this...

Quote
This is a lil' tutorial on how to remove the dpad at the bottom of apps and make them fullscreen
It's all trial and error; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Necessary items:

    * .jar or .jad file of app/game you want to hack
    * winrar

IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A .jar FILE
Step 1: Locate file and right click
Step 2: Hover mouse over Open With and select WinRAR Archiver
Step 3: Open the folder META-INF or something of the like
Step 4: Open up the document MANIFEST.MF
Step 5: Add this code (it doesn't matter where)

MIDlet-Touch-Support: True
UseNativeTextButtons: false
ReverseSoftkeys: true
UseNativeCommands: false
LGE-MIDlet-TargetLCD-Height: 320
LGE-MIDlet-TargetLCD-Width: 240

Step 6: Save and close
Step 7: Test to see if it worked (i.e. send to your phone)

IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A .jad FILE
Step 1: Open file with Notepad
Step 2: Add aforementioned code
Step 3: Save and close
Step 4: Test results

That's it guys.
As far as my experience goes, I haven't been able to stretch out a game's resolution but I believe it does work on apps (as evident with Opera Mini)
Usually with games, it just removes the dpad but you are left with a blank spot where the dpad should be.

So yea, go out there and have fun  Smiley

Thats it, just send this jar file to you phone from the many web based download send sites, and you are all set to read may books on your phone with ease and comfort.

tldr: Edited for others to make there EBook reading a pleasurable experience

No, there is no public Widget SDK yet. I don't even think there is a private TouchWiz SDK yet. All of the apps so far are Samsung's. Supposedly they are planning to go crazy on TouchWiz and make it their main interface for mobile platforms, and a widget kit should be released within the next month or two. That's what I read anyway. Who knows.

Im not sure what I did wrong.  I have the opera browser without the silver menu, but I still cant get the qwerty to work.  I think I know what this blue box is from what every1 is talking about when typing a web address, but when I tap it and the cursor starts flashing, it still does not recognize the keyboard.  HELLP PLeasseee!!!

No you can leave that on, you just need to scroll to the bottom and choose "insert symbol" instead if you want the qwerty on Opera Mini.
