I logged in as admin and installed New PC Studio.  All went fine.

Then I logged in as a regular user (as I do not use Windows as an admin for anything other than admin tasks)  and when I tried to connect the phone I got the following:

"an unregistered model has been connected" "communication cannot proceed"

So thinking I was smart, I made this account an administrator for a few minutes and the phone connected just fine.

So then I reset the account back to limited privs and tried again.  The phone did connect, but not wholly as it had all sorts of connection errors.

Is there something I can do to get PC Studio to be happy under a limited account?

Well if you have a limited account you cant upload or download if I am correct.  And this is what you are doing with TKFE. Why not use an administrator account?

I do not generally use windows for much of anything, unless I must for specific software.  My wife is the regular Windows user in our home and she's far more likely than I to unwittingly run malicious software from an email or web page.  It is for her that I am trying to set up PC Studio, without admin privileges.  As an aside, when I do use Windows, even I do not use the admin account for anything other than administrative work.  It is simply safer.  Accidents and viruses are contained.   I do the same on Linux... if only Windows had 'sudo' Smiley

Worse comes to worst, I could set my wifes laptop up with bluetooth... but its just more to teach her and all she wants is to easily put music on her phone.

I am sorry I said TKFE above and you were only talking about pc-studio. Have you tried just connecting the phone  in mass storage mode or media player mode? Mass storage sees just the memory card and media player mode sees the memory card and the phones media files. Both you can get to just by going to my computer and you can drag or copy and paste the songs into the folders. Works for pictures, ringtones, and videaos also.  Its alot easier than pc-studio anyways. Especially since our version of PC-studio is only for media anyways and is just a waste of time.

Perhaps the issue now is that there's no memory card in the phone, but when I load it as Media Player, the camera comes up in My Computer, and that's it.  When I click on the camera it shows some filetransfer sort of screen with a computer and camera icons and just waits and waits...

Mass storage of course gives me nothing since I have no card.

I also see nothing in PC Studio mode... though, no surprise.

Any ideas about the Media Player mode issue?  Hopefully my card will come tomorrow and I can try it again... kinda sucks that you must have a card to see Other Files.

When you use the media player setting you should see all the folders. Pictures, Audio, Videos. Yes without memory card you use the media player setting. I would think that maybe the right drivers are not installed but you installed pc-studio.  It may be another issue without administrator rights. You may experience the same with a memory card also.
