Hey, I am going to be upgrading shortly and have already decided to go with the obviously best texting phone available to ATT (impression, Duh!). But I thought i would just ask how good the signal is? Like for example how many bars you get while indoors or outside of densely populated areas with the impression.

My previous phone was also samsung and it would rarely get a signal while i was at the office or the mall or some other building that wasn't my home Tongue

Where I live its just as good as my blackberry.  I have only had my Impression for a few days, but everywhere that I have gone I have always had good signal strength.

I've had my Impression for a few months now and I haven't really had any issues with the signal. A couple of times a month I have to drive from Jacksonville, FL to Tallahassee, FL and there are a few miles where my bars start dropping down, but I have yet to loose the signal all together. And I've been in numerous buildings, both concrete and steel, and still had a good signal. I'm extremely happy with it.

Better than older phones for sure I have service everywhere except for one spot on my commute where the train goes through the woods, and no one has service there.

well the other thing that worries me is that in my area we don't get much in the way of 3g, even though my town is very well populated (I believe verizon controls all of the 3g towers here) so i'm thinkin that im only going to get EDGE, if that.. Cry

Samsung phones in general are not known for good RF performance, but the Eternity and Impression are among the best of the Samsung phones in RF reception so I doubt that you will have any trouble with it.

A girlfriend of mine has an Impression and it seems close in RF to a Razr V3, better than an LG Vu, but not as good as my Nokia 5800 (which is awesome) or her older Nokia phone (don't recall the model of her older Nokia).

If you live in a real problem area many Nokia models excel at RF performance, but the absolute best is supposed to be the Moto Razr V9. However, the Impression should do well for most people.

Cursed, I know my reply is a little late, but here is my honest answer. I work in a building with a metal roof. Many people have had problems with phones in the building, but I never had any with my previous phone, a Blackberry Pearl (1st gen with no 3G receiver).

There is no 3G reception in the area, only edge. The Pearl picked up on the edge signal like a charm, usually with full or nearly full bars. Meanwhile, my new Impression stays around 1 bar or constantly jumps between medium and zero reception in the building... its very annoying.

BUT in 3G areas, such as the town I live in, my phone's reception always has full bars. In those areas it performs even better reception than the Pearl (plus the obvious advantages of 3G speed.)

My Pearl was a horrible piece of junk. It suffered from extreme reliability issues and I will never go back to a blackberry again. I know many people who feel the same. Also, I'm incredibly happy that I didn't buy an iPhone, because once you learn how to Goatbreak, you are going to enjoy your phone tremendously! Either way, the Pearl had much better EDGE reception than my new Impression, but in 3G areas my Impression does great!!!

it is decent, it has issues in some places but all phones have their black cats in them. just rember to restart itt daily because sometimes it will have signal but it is having a hissy and dosent like its self for some reason. no big deal, just turn it off and back on when you wake up or something. takes about a minute
