I've always been the type to store area codes in my contact numbers for completion's sake. When I got the Impression, I imported all my contacts with area codes intact. Then I noticed that incoming texts showed a 1 in front of the number, which was annoying, because they would show up twice in Recent Contacts. Once when I initiated a conversation from my stored number (no 1) and again from when I replied to the incoming number with the 1. This annoyed me so much that I went through my contact list one-by-one and added a 1 to the front of all the numbers.

That worked great for a while. But starting last week or so, all my incoming texts now start with a +1. So I can either live with it and have duplicates in my recent contacts. Or I can go edit all my numbers AGAIN, adding the +. But this messes up the formatting, so it also removes all the dashes making the number a lot harder to read.

So my questions are: Is this happening for everyone? And is there anything we can do about it?

Yeah, I don't think it's with incoming calls, just texts.

I had this issue once I believe with calls. Had something to do with the calls being forwarded to my phone and that is how they showed up. Not sure about text messages. Does it do this to all texts or just some?

This issue is now happening on all phones using ATT. Not sure why this is happening. I will contact ATT tomorrow to investigate the issue.
