Hey everyone. A few days ago, I bought the invisibleSHIELD screen protector for my Samsung Impression. I did not get the full body kit as I wanted to actually get some sort of semi-hard gel case later on. So far, everything looks okay. The screen protector is smooth with no bubbles. It has a slightly tacky texture, which although it is not completely smooth, it doesn't really limit my touchscreen ability or sensitivity. I think the screen will get even smoother (as some others mentioned) through time. There are some lint and dust around the edges, but it's acceptable as you can’t always have it perfectly smooth on any screen protector.

However, there is one thing that is bugging me. I think my IS screen protector may be cut differently than the one shown on the website. Perhaps the one on the webpage is a newer or original version. Right after I bought my Impression from AT&T, I went to the IS Mall Cart (strangely, this mall cart is somehow conveniently located outside AT&T and nowhere else). Because I can't install these things and have never used a screen protector ever, I had the girl there install it for me for $20 total ($15 for screen protector only + $5 install labor).

The issue is that top of screen protector that surrounds the proximity sensor is actually not there at all. What I mean is that the one shown on the website has the top of the screen "covering and enclosing” the proximity sensor with a perfect fit. The one that I have seems to be cut poorly without the top portion, and doesn’t seem to fit correctly at the top as well.

I have attached pictures showing the one that I have and the one that is maybe the “original and the way it should be” version.

I also want to mention that the girl had to install the IS twice. During the first time, the screen protector was covering ½ of the right proximity circle (right circle), which would most likely affect my phone. I told her about this, and she redid the screen again--this time moving the whole screen protector slightly right so the top part doesn’t close the right proximity circle off (hopefully, the pictures will show what it mean).

My question is then...for those who have the IS and the phone, do you have the same problem as me? Do you have the screen that looks like mine or one from the website? Maybe the IS mall cart had an older version than what was on the webpage? Or maybe they just screwed me over? Although it says on my receipt that they gave me a Samsung Impression screen protector, it just seems to be bugging me a lot because I feel like mine is poorly attached on that area. All in all, I feel like the edges would come off sooner than expected because it’s open and not fully enclosed nor a perfect fit. I will probably just go back to the mall cart and ask them myself.

Thanks!

I went with BodyGuardz instead of IS.  It totally covers the entire screen including the proximity sensors and it works fine.  I read a review on these types of covers.  It compared BodyGuardz, IS, and some other one that doesn't make one for the impression.  All pretty much the same except they stated some were slightly more transparent.  So I got the one they said was more transparent that was available for the Impression.  As far as the piece that covers the screen it's great and was easy to install.  The rest of it(like 8 other peices) were a PITA to install.  And I couldn't get some of the pieces that cover the curved edges perfect so I don't think it will last as long as I thought.  It will last a while tho...months I am sure.  Also It makes the phone look kinda crappy because it collects dust/lint at the edges of each piece.

The BodyGuardz one was $24.95 with free shipping and you get two full sets and they will replace them for $4.95.

Oh and they say to turn it off but I had mine on and playing music thru the entire install.  Just don't use too much solution.

I see. So I guess the other type of protectors such as BodyGuardz do enclose it (like the one on IS' webpage?). Anyone else who has the IS and Impression--can you give me some more input onto how your design is at the proximity sensor location?

I dont  have much to say about the screen protectors you got. But they look bad. I bought a generic brand on ebay. 3 for $5. They are nice to the touch, covers the sensor, easy to put on with no bubbles, and fits the screen perfectly. And I cant even tell I have 1 on it feels that good and fits so perfectly.

Yeah, the invisibleSHIELD screen protector I got looks very good except up toward the where the proximity sensors are located. It seems like maybe I got a different version than the one shown on the webpage. Everything else is smooth and accurate with no air bubbles or anything.

Only thing is that is bugging me is the top part. I just wanted to know whether anyone else who had the IS screen protector (or body kit) like me has the same problem.

Funny thing is that I went to the IS Mall Cart today where I got mine installed. I did not bring my Impression with me at the time. Another person was working there, and he told me that sometimes IS may have the wrong cuts. Ironically, he said he was "sold out" on Impression screen protectors as well, so we could not compare. I was told to bring back my Impression next week when more of the Impression invisibleSHIELDs came in, so he could take a look to see if it is any different.

Quite possible they may just have different chinese companies making the screen covers for them. Hopefully you can get them exchanged.

Here's an update. I went to the IS Kiosk yesterday and asked a different person about my problem. He replied saying that all screen protectors for Impressions that he has ever installed or currently have are like the ones I have. I think he also said something about perhaps the one on the website is an older version because the part on top of the right proximity sensor is actually very, very thin, thus prone to being tore off. Thus, that is the reason why invisibleSHIELD perhaps switched to a cut where the top is open and easier to fit (but who knows?)

I did take a look at the full body kit and it appeared to be much nicer because the screen protector was not cut off, but rather the protector covered the whole front side including the speakers.

The edges of the top part are collecting lots of dust (as shown in the pictures), and they do not look that good, really--oh well. I just hope the top part of mine doesn't peel off within time. The people at IS said "it shouldn't," which means nothing as IS probably just is BSing to get themselves covered incase their product doesn't hold up to its claim. If I have problems, I will bring it back to them and hopefully they'll replace it.

For all those who got only a screen protector (any brand or model), can you post pictures of what yours looks like? I'm curious to see if it's really different.

I bought the IS as well.  Just put it on today.  So far, I'm pretty happy with it except I have a extremely small overhang on the top which could be from my installation.  Looks fine.  Mine has the small cut out around the sensor as well and I ordered mine directly off the Zagg site.

I ordered the IS full body directly from the company and it came in last night. The sensor is not open at the top like the one in your picture, it is exactly like the pics from the zagg website. Was not that bad to install, I just had to be patient. As far as the rounded portions I did the "palming" technique  periodically throughout the evening, during commercial breaks while watching TV. As of this morning all of the corners are down properly. There are a couple of bubbles on the battery cover I couldn't get out, we'll see if they disipate in a few days.

All in all I love it the phone is much easier to grip now.
