http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/07/28/att-to-launch-the-samsung-solstice-a887-on-august-2nd-9999/

Samsung has a new phone called the Solstice (A887) coming out next month possibly.

So far, it looks like it may be a slimmed down Impression with a different firmware. Here's to hoping they update ours! Or maybe add apps to change the sidebar Smiley

There's still hope out there for us guys and gals!

Why would you get this when you can get the samsung eternity for less, and the eternity seems like a much better phone?

Yes it doesnt make sense when you can get the eternity. It is going to be a social networking phone. I read that elsewhere.  It will have widgets for facebook and other social networking sites like that.

So the Eternity is a TV phone. The Impression is a messaging phone. And the solstice is a social networking phone.  Evidently aimed at the younger generation.

If the widgets are on the new phone then you should be available, which means we should be able to get them on our phone!!

Exactly my reason for even posting this Smiley

If the OS is the same, which it looks like it may be from appearances, then we may be able to use their widgets.

Yeah, but if I remember Agoattamer right, those widgets on our Impressions would require a firmware update...  Angry

Well it seemed at the time it would require a firmware update. I recently added 3 new widgets to my phone. Google Search, Accuweather, and CNN.

So...care to share with the rest of us how it's done?  Or are you waiting until it seems a bit safer and less likely to brick others' phones?

So, if anyone would like me to extract some of the programs (widgets) from my Solstice for agoattamer and bantam to play with, just say so...

If you could extract any widgets for us we would all be appreciated. I can even tell you where to look in your solstice.  systemfs/mediaset/widget  If there are any widgets you can get they will be in there.

Will be done as soon as I get my usb cable. Just moved back into college so i cant borrow my father's impression cable. BTW, copying data off the device doesn't pose any greater risks than using tkfe for goatbreaking, does it?

If your not editing any of the data then no it shouldnt harm anything. There is always a chance something stupid happens though.

If you do go in and copy anything. Get as much as you can rather then just one sub folder lol. Perdy please.
