Why does it say my SMS is full when its only half full?  My older phones can hold up to 2000 text messages.  Can I have my text messages store on my memory card?  I don't like deleting messages all the time.

The limit on the Impression if 500 messages...that is inbox/sent/outbox/and draft combined.  Ur best bet would be to set your phone to auto delete messages for u...u set mine to auto delete once a message has been there for a week, but there's also an option for 2 weeks as well, or automatically delete the oldest message when your inbox is full...in case u don't know how...Menu --> Messages -->Messaging Settings --> and Auto Delete Inbox,

I tried the auto delete and it didnt work for me i still got the message icon that looks like a text with a little blue bar in it (I think it means full box). Then it would delete one after another came in and say full and repeat every time.

the auto-delete option, does seem to be an empty promise, my auto-delete is set to "delete when full" && nothing happens but that annoying message-full icon popping up every 3 seconds. Is this a glitch or a piece of sh*t ?!  Huh Lips sealed

2 posts and in both you refer to the phone as a piece of sh*t. If you are having issues both ATT and Samsung have a 1-800 tech support department.

As a text addict like yourselves, I find that the impression (or mine at least) holds up to 430 text, even though it says it can hold up to 500. Even my old samsung (Samsung SYNC SGH-A707) held up to 430 texts as well. And as of this posting and for the foreseeable future, you can't save text messages to the memory card as awesome as that would be.

As for the auto delete option, the same has happened to me. Not sure why, but I find it easiest to delete my texts every night before I go to bed. If you're having a problem, then I agree with goat to go and call AT&T support.

This phone can hold 500 messages as told. But if you text a lot of words per text, then the file becomes bigger for that text and once the inbox memory limit is reached, it's full.

This is a current problem with my phone!

I tried auto-delete with no luck. It appeared as if nothing was happening, so now i have it set to two weeks. It still seems as if nothing is happening, so here is my question...

"At what time with the phone actually delete items that are over two weeks old?"

  • 1) If a text message occupies more than 1 slot (as clearly stated while composing messages) this usage of slots should be reflected in the total count, otherwise you wind up with a million angry customers wondering why the hell the bloody thing says it's out of room when, according to its own calculation, its not!
  • 2) I have an 8-gig memory card, and the bloody phone can't use that for storage?!?!
  • 3) If it's set to auto-delete when full, the imbecilically-designed thing should silently delete the old messages without annoying me with a prompt telling me to delete messages every time a new message comes in.
In short, this phone is a vile piece of excrement!

Texts can always be downloaded to pc studio. simple. I have my phone to delete every two weeks and it does it fine, but then again texting isn't my main mode of communicating.
