So at first my speaker started getting really quiet when on a call. I had to put it on speaker phone to make calls. Then the screen started changing colors and not working right.

I ordered a new flex cable and tools on ebay for 7.50 shipped, installed, and all is working well now. This might help someone diagnose the same problem.

When looking at the old cable you could see where the edge of it had started to rub through and not make a good connection.

Hey cooper, long time to see. How difficult was it to fix the cable? Many are having screen issues after extended use.  Any pointers from you may be helpful to the forum in getting those touch screens working again.

hey goat!!!

it wasnt too bad. just be patient and keep all the little screws organized.

off the top of my head...

pop off battery cover and take out battery
take out 6 screws
use something to pry plastic off
3 screws at bottom near microphone
carefully pop off black plastic around mic
carefully undo the flex cable from the board
remove chrome piece.
6 more screws
take off sliding part
slide remaning part open and remove 5 more screws
pry apart front part and remove flex cable
insert new cable into slot and make sure its all the way pushed in (had to open mine back up twice because i didnt get it pushed in far enough)
reverse order

something like that.

i got the new flex cable with tools on ebay for 7.50 shipped

phone works great again

Sounds simple. Just follow his directions. I am going to buy a cable just in case.

Hi Guys,
Have a question on how the flex cable should pass through the slider mechanism (Did not pay enough attention during disassembly  Angry ).

Should the cable pass though at the top of the mechanism under the loose plastic cover or should it pass through the middle of the sliding plate.  Would appreciate if someone could link to a photo if possible.

It may interest you guys to know that these phones are now being imported into New Zealand where I live and sold on internet auctions, which is where I got mine from.

Cheers

The screws in the impression have successfully bent two screwdrivers.
Now I'm out of options.

Ok, my daughters impression was doing the same thing. Started with the funky colors on the screen, then all of a sudden the front earpiece quit working all together. So I found this posting thought cool, I changed the flex ribbon and the old one had the scrapes on it just as u said, it fixed the screen color issues but the front earpiece still don't work. The only site I can find to purchase the front earpiece speaker on has a minimum purchase of 5, i don't need 5, just 1. Other than buying a whole other impression off eBay just for this speaker, any other suggestion or good place to buy parts?
