I was wondering what type of software can we run on the impression?  I mean can we run software made for nokia or symbian?  I know we can't install software for blackberry or mobile windows.  I have seen some nice software that was meant for Nokia## and for symbian that i would like to use, but if i can't download it then i will stop looking at that software.

Thanks

Some nokia stuff will run and some wont. Symbian is another operating system type phone and wont work. Most games on the net will be listed as name.jar 240x320. Try those. It is hit and miss.

great, thanks.  I saw apps/games labeled as j2me (something like that), so i am going to assume that it can run on our phones.

Thanks

Yes we run j2me but some apps use different api's. Best thing is to give them a try.

Just curious,
Should there be a place where you can post what apps worked from what OS.

In a sense,

Samsung Instinct - App.jar
Nokia _____ - App.jar
Blackberry Bold - App.jar

I do not know, its just a thought, but if the Impression is open to (some) of these apps around, it would be nice to know what works.

Just a thought.

Thats a good idea. Start a new thread of compatible phones where a good percentage of its software works. Just remember what you find on the web is not always true. There are many generic apps out there that work and some dont. But if you feel like experimenting give it a try. Is it apps or games are you after? If you want games i got games. 25 full touch, 200 touch with the dpad, 250 non touch with dpad only.

No I dont. Never compiled a list. Thought about it and maybe i will and put it up somewhere but I never uploaded top rapidshare or something like that. I believe you have to have a paying account to keep it up past 10 days so whats the use.

Just too many to put on here. I take requests.

Hmmmm.... I have a ton of apps from my old Nextel Motorola i730. Wonder if those will work? If I could get my "Digital Bartender" again I would be stoked!

hope pandora will have support for impression.

The eternity has a preinstalled app for pandora. However it requires a subscription to use. I did try to install it on the impression but for some reason I get a java error.
