Use Tkfile explorer to go to the locked folder that you wish to delete. Right click on the folder of the locked app and select delete.  EX:exe/java/locked games/folder of game to be deleted

Disconnect from TKFE.

Open up your dial pad and enter the following, *#6984125*#.

Choose INTERNALS and enter the following, *#3818790*#.

Now scroll down and choose Storage Settings. Then update Java DB, followed by update apps database.

Now you are finished.

Go to Menu>Applications/Apps & Games. Your locked app is gone.

Thanks. It was a long journey to get the master key. Its a relief for many I am sure without a data plan.  No more deleting the phones data base and risk bricking their phones.

Great day to be an impression owner!  Now I have a question: Is there any way to delete the "Shop Games" from the Games and Apps menu?  I successfully deleted "Shop Applications" and "Tumbling Dice" but I don't see how I can delete this last games and apps annoyance.

Now all we need to do is change those lock screens and I will be able to die happy.

Do you only delete one app at a time while doing this, and then enter the code after each delete? Or can you delete multiple apps and then enter the code?

question.  what if we wanted any of these apps that we deleted?  how do we get them back?  should we cut the app folder instead of deleting it and put it on a backup on our harddrives instead?

Title: Re: How to delete locked apps safely!
Post by: Agoattamer on September 03, 2009, 07:54:18 AM
If you want it then dont delete it. lol. But if you save the folder to your computer we can most likely get them back.

Post by: Alucard400 on September 03, 2009, 08:29:06 AM
Well.  I deleted weather.com 4.1 and then realized it's not an app that you need to pay for when you use it (was trying to understand posts from another thread about this too).  I have the folder saved on the harddrive, but TK File expl crashes whenever I try to upload any of the files and folders back into the phone.  Oh well.  Not so important anyways.  I can check weather on the browsers.

yes, its not so good. You are better off with the accuweather widget.

do you need to have a data plan to use the accuwather widget? or does it uses the 3G network instead?

First of all, my many thanks to Agoattamer for this hack! After the goatbreaking method this is the best ever news for brave owners of the Impression! I have a question, what happens with the locked apps that have links/icons on the Menu like ATT GPS and Media Mall? Do their icons remain or they become unusable and you risk freezing your phone when accidentally activating them?
Thanks in advance

They will remain dead. I have been working on trying to re link them to other apps but have been unsuccessful at the moment.

TK File Explorer = TKFE...it is a program on your computer that lets u get into your phones internal memory, and modify things a bit.

Your instructions sound very logical  --if I can only get the locked files to show up in TK.  I have downloaded TK, but when I open it, I do not see the deleted files. What am I doing wrong? I open up TK,  I use the USB data cable connected to my phone, but when cable boots, it gives me a choice on phone of choosing "media player" "PC STUDIO" and "MASS STORAGE" and with choosing all 3, I can not get the locked files to appear in TK explorer, I am lost, ...what am I doing wrong?

I even moved tk to my phone memory card thinking you might be meaning to open up TK explorer within the phone, but obviously that does not open or work either.

I just dont know how to get locked files to show on TK, once I can get to that point,, I can follow your instructions very easily.

You are dealing with a newbie here, please advise.

Thank you,

Maybe you should read the thread on how to install games and apps. The only difference is the locked files are in the locked games folder and you install into the games folder.

Your problem is you have to set the phone from settings, connectivity, usb connections, to the pc studio option, not to ask. Set pc studio to monitor device connection and have it run on start up of your computer. Then restart your computer and your phone ( they should not be connected , but you can leave the usb cord in the computer). When you comp starts you should see the Icon for PC studio in the  corner. Plug your phone in, pc studio should start and you will know if it worked cause your phone will appear as a little icon on right. Now close down pcstudio, close the detect connection, start TK explorer select the port it should be the only one available. Then click connect. The files will be on the bottom left..

If that doesnt work. Try a diff USB port. If you get an initial error in connecting you must delete the file TK creates restart all and start again. If you get it to connect then an error close TK, delete the file, leave your phone connected restart the phone and try to connect in TK again.

Can I delete the whole "Locked Games" folder? I don't have a data plan, so I don't plan on using ANY of these apps at all. I just wanted to make sure it is indeed safe to do this before I go ahead and delete the whole folder as opposed to deleting the apps inside this folder. Anyone confirm it's okay?

Title: Re: How to delete locked apps safely!
Post by: Agoattamer on November 24, 2009, 09:56:08 AM
It is OK to delete the whole folder. But I'm not sure why you would actually want to. They will always be at the bottom of the list in your games/apps menu. You might get data one day and need the email application.  But if you so desire you can delete the whole locked folder.

I am an idiot.  This is what I get for doing this at 2:00 in the morning.  I completely spaced on backing up the folder first, and like a moron, I deleted the MediaMall app.  As I clicked on it, I remembered that stupid name is actually the default browser.  Can I manage without it?  I have Bolt functioning (but not goathacked).  Does it matter that I haven`t used the key to reload the apps yet?
Does anybody have a copy of the folder to share?

Title: Re: How to delete locked apps safely!

Media Mall is not Media Net. Media Mall is where you buy apps and media from ATT. Media Net is the browser.  No worries as we can put it back also. I have copies of everything.

"Open up your dial pad and enter the following, *#6984125*#.

Choose INTERNALS and enter the following, *#3818790*#.

Now scroll down and choose Storage Settings. Then update Java DB, followed by update apps database.

Now you are finished.

Go to Menu>Applications/Apps & Games. Your locked app is gone. "

But i cant get it to work. I did all this but my apps are still locked.

That's why I deleted Media Mall lol... but unfortunately it didn't get rid of the icons plus when tapped on they still go to the sites..
Even if I can find a way to bury them on the bottom of the list would be good,.. Just hate them defaulting to the top of the list...

Title: Re: How to delete locked apps safely!
Post by: TheInsomniac on June 17, 2010, 02:07:18 PM
I just deleted some of the locked games, worked fine. This was only after a long challenge of getting my Impression's drivers installed and TKFE to work on my new Windows 7 64 bit laptop; after following these directions I got it to work: http://www.samsung-impression.org/samsung-impression-how-to/samsung-modem-usb-modem-driver/

I could not get PC Studio to run on this machine, and the drivers that Windows 7 seeks out come packaged with PC Studio 3. So ignore it, and do the manual driver install. TKFE worked fine (no disconnecting) as soon as I manually installed the drivers.

Lastly, the main point of my post is that I've had some very annoying behavior with the "Tumbling Dice" program, so I decided to delete it. Besides being a stupid program (why not be able to tumble 1 die, or 5 dice, like for Yahtzee?), it was always at the top of my apps list, and it did not show as a game to be deleted on my phone. I was dismayed when I found that it was also not in the Games or Locked Games folders on TKFE! On a whim I clicked the Links folder, and there it was! Apparently being in the "Links" folder causes this app not to show up as deletable directly on the phone. I finally manually deleted it and have now gotten this useless app out of my life. Just thought I would post this in case anyone else ran into the same annoyance.

Thanks!

Don't know for sure, but you might be out of luck on reinstalling. Those apps are not intended to be deleted - you hacked your phone with the help of the forums in order to do this non-standard action. You might try searching the forums, maybe someone else has had the same problem. You could also search the web, and maybe the jars are out there. Alternatively, maybe someone on the forum could copy their jars for you... not sure if that would work, but I don't see why not.

As for Mobile email, there might be gmail-specific app. Try searching the forums. I don't think the official Mobile email app has versions, per se. WYSIWYG with it, I suspect. I do know that gmail works fairly well through the media net browser.

Good grief, I can suture your wounds, set your bones & restart your heart with a HP 360 defibrillator, but I am clueless as to what TKFE even stands for.
My daughter has a Samsung Mythic & that beast has three pages of locked apps she has no use for. I thought about buying it from her but gad.....no way. That thing was a pain in the butt.

Hey guys, just discovered this site and it is great! I'm having some trouble though. I apologize if this is a total n00b question, but I'm having trouble with this step:

"Use Tkfile explorer to go to the locked folder that you wish to delete. Right click on the folder of the locked app and select delete.  EX:exe/java/locked games/folder of game to be deleted"

When I open up the phone in TKE I only have Internal and External Memory. Under those I only have Audio, Pictures, Video, Other Files. Other Files is an empty folder, and there is nothing in the other folders except what you would expect. How do you get to the directory exe/java/locked games? Thanks in advance!

(http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/5482/captureiop.th.jpg) (http://img189.imageshack.us/i/captureiop.jpg/)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us)

is this what yours looks like??  See how my phone is detected on the bottom.  It's EXE/Java/Locked Games.  Hope this snapshot helps.
