Although this method isnt perfect it will allow you to re-order your apps in the games/apps menu.

It involves going into your games/apps menu and renaming the apps you want to re-order and organize to the top of the list.  (Using your phone only)

Make a list on a piece of paper of the order you want your apps to be in.

Then begin by renaming the apps from the bottom of the list to the top of the list on your phone by using the rename function. Simply just add an 'A' or something like that to the beginning or the end of the name.

Example:

Before:

1. scrabble
2. opera mini
3. peggle

Order you want it:

1. opera mini
2. scrabble
3. peggle

Order to rename it:

1. peggle
2. scrabble
3. opera mini

Result:

1. opera mini
2. scrabble
3. peggle

Then go to the internals on your phone.

Open up your dial pad and enter the following, *#6984125*#.

Choose INTERNALS and enter the following, *#3818790*#.

Now scroll down and choose Storage Settings. Then update Java DB

Hit the endcall key and go to your games/apps menu. You will now see that they have been reordered.

Start with the bottom one re-named and work your way back to the top re-naming the apps back to their original name. (so the next time you update java database they wont get re-ordered)

You dont have to do this to all the games/apps in your menu but only the ones you want near the top. I understand it might be some work but at least there now is a method. And you cant re-name locked apps so this method will not work for them.

Thanks to Bantam and lumplump for helping figure this out.

I had tried to rearranged them in TKE a couple weeks ago but of course they did not change, just did the Java DB update and they rearranged to what I did a week ago. COOL.

agoattamer had a post that said the apps were arranged by date installed and I noticed that TKE does have a date of when the files were last modified. So all I did a couple weeks ago was to upload and then download each app folder in reverse order of what I wanted them. The date modified in TKE changed but nothing happended on the phone until I did the Java DB update and then all the apps were rearranged based on what I did a couple weeks ago.

Sounds but it isnt. Would actually take longer. Renaming takes 5 seconds. Uploading each and downloading each would take much longer. Then if you got disconnect errors you could be there for an hour.

I have always had a good connection and have not got any errors but I agree that it could take longer. My question is, Agoattamer, what file(s) are you actually renaming? You cannot rename the app folder so is it just the Jad or Jar or both?

Using your phone and hitting rename, changes the midlet name. Its not the folder or the jad, or jar.

If you are trying to use TKFE you dont rename but upload the folder to your pc the write it back. You cant rename using TKFE cause that will cause an error I believe. That is why I say its easier to just rename the files using the phone.

Ok. I did not read your post close enough the first time to realize you are renaming on the phone its self. I just jumped into updating the DB and did not have to rearrange this time. Thanks for the clarification.

This worked well for me, but it deleted my gmail app.  I couldn't access it anymore through the phone, but I was able to see it in TKFE.  It created a second gmail folder and moved the jar file there while leaving the jad file in the original folder.  I couldn't delete the original folder with the jad file, but was able to delete the new folder with the jar file.  I redownloaded the gmail app, goatbroke it, and it seems to work fine, but I still see the old folder with the old jad file it in when i go into TKFE.

All the other apps re-ordered just fine and work normally.  I don't think I did anything wrong.

Try rebooting your phone will still connected to TKFE and then try deleting the folder. Also, with the master key, you can install apps via TKFE but you need to move the Jar and Jad files into the folder not just the Jar like you did.
