I recently purchased a impression on craigslist.  I used the phone for about 2 days when the battery went dead.  I but it on the charger and it came up with a phone lock.  I first tried to contact the seller.  He is not responding.  So I called up AT&T gave told them the problem and gave them the IMEI,  They told me the phone wasn't lost or stolen but that I had to call samsung to fix the issue.  So I called samsung and they told me to enter *2767*3855#.  It just said invalid character.  The rep said that this normally works and since it did not that I would have to send it in.  Is there any way around this without sending it in.  The phone isn't stolen I checked with att.  I have already spent more than I wanted to on this phone.  I don't want to spend more to send it to samsung.  Is there another number I can call other than the 188-987-4357 for samsung.  Or do I not have an option and need to send it in.  Thanks for the help.

*2767*3855#

that is the master reset code which you posted above. did you enter it correctly? Try entering 0000 for the phone lock and see if that works bc i remember correctly thats the factory code that they use if the previous owner hasent already changed it

yeah I have entered in several times and had other people try.  the code has been changed I tried everything I can think of for codes.  The problem with the master reset is that it is supposed to be done in a dialer and all I have access to is the 8 character phone lock.  I guess I'll just have to break down and send it off.

I recently had a similar issue. Bought one from craigslist from a Guy who found the phone on a car at his dealership.
I took it home, used my daughters charger to get enough power to turn it on and low and behold its locked (security/user pw lock).
Spent about 5 hours browsing online for a unlock code, then another few hours with a att rep.
*** ATT cannot help. ***
You have two options.
Start entering numbers and hope you get lucky (good luck), or call samsung.

I called samsung and told them the problem, they emailed me a shipping label and told me to send it in for a reflash.
Didnt cost me a dime and turn around was 8 days (from indiana to pablo texas and back).

Something noteworthy...
ATT does not care where you got the phone, and they cannot "lock out" stolen/lost phones, only the sim cards. Unlike cdma phones (verizon etc.). So please think about using the security lock feature as most dirtbags most likely go through the hassle of sending it in.
The impression I bought even had the sim card in it. I put it in another phone and called the original owners father to give it back(Dad in the contact list  lol). The guy was in jail, the dad claimed it lost on his insurance and told me to enjoy my new phone. Smiley

Works great I might add. Posting this from it now!
enjoy
