So I found some third party document viewer, for viewing Word docs... and when I copied a Word doc to my Impression and then went to view it, to my surprise it was instead loaded by the Impression's native document viewer -- I had not idea the Impression had one, let alone one that view Word docs!  I was pretty happy about this.

When I first loaded it the view was in portrait mode.  The document was shrunken to fit the portrait screen.   A nice job in fitting the document, but it was a bit too shrunken for me to see, so I thought I'd try landscape mode.  And, strangely, the landscape mode fits the page top to bottom not right to left!?  That is, you get this super tiny version of the page.  Sure you can zoom in, but then the page gets exploded so you see maybe 4/5 of the width and are forced to scroll horizntally.  There's no 100%-fit width view.  Really annoying.

Any way around this?

Its nice to know, that the impression native viewer will look at word docs? How do you load them? Via mms or sd card?

I'm still waiting on my sd card in the mail, but I'm sure that'd work find.  I loaded mine via bluetooth into Other Files.  Just tapped on the file in the listing and, voila!, it opened right up.

BTW - if I reformat my files to be landscape 4" x 2.4" (e.g. similar to 400px x 240px)  things are a lot better.  The viewer unfortunately shows a ridiculous margin on screen and there's not jump-to-page-num feature... if your doc is 20 pages in 8.5x11 it'll be 120 pages in my recommended format and no fun getting to page 89.

Link to which software?  The PDF/doc viewer I'm mostly discussing is the built-in one.  Just tap on a document in your Other Files and it will be automagically loaded into the view that comes with the phone.

If you're interested in the 3rd party one I mentioned, its not worth it.  Its supposedly some cracked software, and at any rate, it did not work well at all... and I didn't save the link.
