Hi Guys

I don't usually like to pay to get my email but I need an email program that puts my hotmail, gmail, and pop3 business account together and gives alerts.  The new release of Mobile Email has added Gmail and mentions getting all your email but it doesn't say anything about POP3.  I don't want to download it because it says if you stop subscribing it will disable the program.  I think this would overwrite the pre-installed mobile email which works without a subscription.

If anybody has used the new program I would like to you
1. If I decide to cancel the subscription can I go back to using the pre-installed mobile email or will that be replaced by this download?

2. Does it support POP3 accounts with alerts?

Thanks

I cant recall if it gave alerts for all pop3 email. I would call ATT and ask them.

It does install over your existing email. But dont believe ATT because we can put your original version back quickly if you cancel.

We are all looking for that perfect email service and unfortunately it is not out there yet for j2me phones.

have you looked at emoze?  I think that will yet you combine more than one email account.  For gmail, I really like the official google app for it.  It works really and syncs everything with web mail and any other imap email clients you are using.

Our email is emoze now. And the new mobile email 3.0 is emoze now. Emoze has a service you can download from them but it is in beta stages and hasnt been updated or supported in a very long time.

A few of us tried a mobile email servie called SEVEN. I cancelled it because it was a beta from the UK and said it would send sms reports back to their servers about it. I didnt want international text message charges. I had 2 in one month and but each was only a quarter.

I have looked into those other apps but emoze and the gmail app do not give alerts.  I know this is perhaps a little silly but getting those alerts helps.  I was hoping someone had upgraded and could tell me.

As far as putting the old one back on, is that a complicated process if I upgrage?

What do you mean it is Emoze now?  Are they the ones who developed the software?

Yes. Emoze makes our email. They also make verizon's and T-mobile's email service. Quite possibly sprint also.  However it runs on ATT's or verizon's servers but yes mobile email was written by emoze.

So ATT is charging $5/month to use Mobile Email 3.0, when 2.0 is free to use on our phones? Is the $5 an extra fee on top of the data plan? Seems like ATT should be "updating" our email program with 3.0...  Huh

Yes its extra. I am not totally familiar with 3.0. Doesnt make sense as we wouldnt be using anymore bandwith than what we already use with 2.0 and our browsers to check emails.

I noticed today that you get a free 30 day trial with mobile email 3.0, so I downloaded it and gave it a try.  It is exactly the same as our current email but you can now view attached pictures and download some other attachments.  It is still really slow and clunky.  There are no alerts available for gmail or pop3 accounts either.  Needless to say I unsubscribed immediately.

Hi there, 1st of all, thanks for this blog, you are AWESOME! to devote your time to us!

We installed the trial of Mobile Email 3.0 without reading AT&T's sneaky small print about not being able to go back to 2.0.  We do want to go back.  I have downloaded the .jar & .jad you posted, could you please give me instructions as to how to restore?  I have TKE Explorer and know how to use it.

Thanks!

Delete mobile email 3.0 using TKFE following this thread.
http://www.samsung-impression.org/index.php?topic=907.0

Now just install Mobile email 2.0 using TKFE. Folder name will be 'Mobile Email'. Install in locked games folder instead of locked games.

After maybe some messaging initialization your email will be restored.

New to this Forum, but been lurking on the Eternity Forum for a while now and have gained much valuable knowledge.  My wife just got an impression and I was shocked to see the 5$/mo. for mobile email. It seems the phone is loaded with 3.0. I believe I can remove and replace it with 2.0, as described in elsewhere in this forum, but would like to know if anyone can confirm.

For now she is using the web interface through a shortcut in medianet, which may actually work better for her as she only has one email she needs to check regularly.

Steve.
