I set up my Mobile Email (2.0) to be able to check my Hotmail account, since I got the data plan a few days ago. It worked perfectly for a few days, where I'd get a "message" beep and "new email window" every time I'd get a new email.  I could click the "view" button, and open my Hotmail acct through Mobile Email. Something changed during the past 2 days.  I still get the "message" beep when I get a new email, but when I click the little window to view the email, it doesn't open Mobile Email.  It tries to open Mobile TV.

The only thing different is I installed a couple of games using TFKE. How could I have screwed up my Mobile Email doing that?  I didn't make any changes other than the games.

THANKS!

That is because TKFE is a very unstable program and your phone was never really set up to mod as a phone like the LG_VU for instance. I have had my phone do the same thing after using TKFE. You need to make sure that you have a very good connection with that program. In my experience what i do try to install the games and if you get any hang up while the transfer, delete the game or app you installed and repeat the process. Most of the time when you do this it will allow the program to write without any problems. Some apps and games do have a problem for TKFE. That is why all the modders here tell you that you are at your own risk for modding your phone. I use Rumkin to install every game and app, then i use TKFE for the deletion of the appropriate files and adding of the updated jad file. Works very good in my opinion this way. Remember it is the same for any kind of operating system, whether its a (pc or phone) if a download is interrupted you stand a good chance of having programs or even games perform in a way they were not meant to. You can if you want is to open your phone system with TkFE and follow these steps as i did. Worked great for me.
1. open phone with TKFE
2.open exe/java/locked appls/mobile email
3.delete appdb
4.delete email
5.delete filesystem
6.if you delete the jad you lose full screen mobile email and it will have the dpad so keep it there as you are making no changes to the jad file. Also keep the jar.
7.do not open email program yet.
8. turn phone off and remove the sim and battery and wait approx.3 minutes to get a full phone refresh.
9. Install sim and battery and reboot.
10. open email and re enter all your details.
This process worked for me and hopefully for you as well....
To those who set up the email through media net, Att no longer honors this nor will they continue  to give you alerts. If yours is still working great but eventually it will not. You will have to set it up with mobile email program that comes in applications on the phone to continue to get alerts for email.
FYI update:: Some games or apps you get off the net are not what they say so for good measure only install from this site as  Agoattamer  in my opinion only puts quality programs on here,

What does installing games with TKFE have to do with this???  Mobile Email comes with the phone.  Mobile TV is a web browser link in the main menu.  Anyways, wxcrawler, it seems that your app is messed up.  Try goat breaking the Mobile e-mail program to reinstall it.  Note that you will lose all e-mail account settings and other data when you reinstall it.

Are you guys talking about CV (Cingular Video)?

There isn't a Mobile TV app pre-installed on this phone...

Just making a small correction...of course I could be wrong.  Grin

He said not one thing about TV not working.. His email program did not alert him on his phone. And yes TKFE has the ability to mess this up, as any program does when you mess around the file systems. If he had interruptions in writing to his phone, programs can begin to work in a way they were never meant to be. They can also make other programs perform badly. Mine as well opened other java programs for some reason. The above post fixed problem.

Are you sure when you get the java pop up that it is not for mobi tv and not for mobile email?  If all you did was install games with TKFE then they should not be the problem. Try deleting your hotmail account and then re adding it again.

Mine did the exact same thing Agottamer. I had to do what i explained above. I had no problems with my other phone. Of course i also had no interruptions in writing to that phone as well.

Thank you to everyone for the replies. I did a work around and made other changes, but the whole thing is still weird.  I did have a "lost" connection with TKFE when loading one of the games, but deleted and retried with no problems. However, I noticed when I checked the Mobile Email settings for my Hotmail acct, that mobile alerts had been disabled.  They definitely were not disabled before, so I don't know if this was from the lost connection instability with the TKFE or not.  I enabled the alerts, and it worked one time.

I also decided to delete some of the locked apps (after saving them to PC), including the MobileTV. If you remember, this is what was trying to open when I hit "view" on my email alert window.  I just mentioned the alert worked one time.....it was a test mail I sent.  Now, instead of opening MobileTV when I clicked view, it did nothing.....didn't open anything.

So I decided to sign up for texts from Hotmail to alert me to new emails, as was suggested in one of Goat's older messages.  That should take care of me.

Thank you everyone! This website is wonderful.

Yeah I though wxcrawler was talking about AT&T Mobile TV, too.  Not MobiTV.

I had a similiar issue if i remembner correctly. I think ATT turns off your mobile email notifications. I had to enable mine a few times.  I called and complained and they did a network reset for me. Worked well for quite some time after that.

I am having the same exact issues (see my post under games called "Brainchallenge 2).  I get the alert in the event widget for a new email and when I click on it, it opens brainchallenge 2.  I can live with it, or just turn my alerts off in mobile email.  I just close the widget and start up mobile email to see the emails...
