Not that big a deal really, but really unflattering news, because the Impression is such a nice phone but plz read... http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/05/10/more-fail-less-epix-major-bug-plagues-another-att-samsung-handset/

Its not a big deal at all, but when u put together that it's a $400 phone, these things shouldnt be...but on the brighter side, its something very minor, and i should be fixed real easily once the update is out.

Also i tried this on my phone and it does freeze it...so i think it would be a good idea to complain to samsung so they fix it, cuz u know how ignorant they are about their software.

If this is the only bug we have we should be greatful. We could have the glyde with touch screens that dont work or the omnia which is slower than all hell. ATT has the best 2 samsung phones in the impression and the eternity. But did you catch something of an update on the 29th. Could be interesting in what else they may include in this update.

I could not get my phone for freeze, let alone crash with this bug.

Maybe I am doing it wrong, but I enabled T9 then typed I followed by a space.  Did it both with the keyboard and with the dial pad, still no go.

I had to try it a couple times...because they said t9, i thought it was done through the dial pad...but it's with the virtual keyboard...u have to enable t9 and press i followed by space, and it will freeze instantly.

I have two problems with this bug...number 1, how does such a minor problem bring such negative feedback (i understand its a pretty high end phone, first amoled and blah blah blah, but that problem will be fixed no problem anyways.)  and number 2, WHO USES T9 WHEN YOU ARE USING THE KEYBOARD OR VIRTUAL KEYBOARD...thats kinda the purpose of getting a querty phone, so u dont have to deal with t9 anymore...i dont know maybe thats just me.

This has nothing to do with the post, but i finally found out what processor the Impression runs on... "372-MHz ARM11 processor" i found it from here: http://www.smartdevicecentral.com/article/Samsung+Impression+SGHi877+ATT/239682_1.aspx

With a processor like that it is right up there with the smart phones. Certainly capable of running flash then. Wish adobe would come out with a java based flash program.

Trust me dude, u probably just not doing it right...but between me and few ppl i know, we have 4 impressions, and they crash like an alcoholic every time lol (did it twice on mine...once to see if it works, and the second time, to see if the 1st was a fluke.)
Only explanation i can come up with is that mine was shipped to me on april 8th, so maybe if you got yours recently, only the ppl who had it from the start might have this problem.

I got mine last friday, and it has yet to crash on me. I've tried to reproduce this bug but it just wont crash, not sure what to tell you.

I guess I am doing it wrong, as I got my impression the first day it came out, and I can not get it to crash.

I use the keyboard, put my phone in T9 mode, but when I hit the "i" key followed by pressing the space bar.  No Freeze/Crash.

Vkitty u keep saying the keyboard so im assuming u mean the physical keyboard...its not that, im talking about the virtual keyboard, the one like on the eternity...enable t9, and then press "I" then space, and it should...if urs doesnt ur just lucky, but i have made 7 impressions crash so far with this same method...so im 7 for 7 lol.

just tried this on mine with virtual keyboard and instant freeze then it crashed and reset


tried this the first time with just using the capital "I" and it did what i explained above.  it also does this when you are using the capital i in a sentence as well. both times again with the T9 enabled on the virtual keyboard.  but no problems using it with out the T9 enabled with virtual keyboard thankfully I do not care to use the T9.

Thank you, I was using the physical keyboard, and yes it did freeze/crash when I used the virtual one.  Wow, as I never use T9, or the virtual keyboard, I never would have found this.

I think I am going to call/talk to att about this, maybe I can get a new one because of this hee hee.

I have tested my Impression, also have the T9 bug.  My Phones software version is A877UCIB7.  Has any one heard of a software update that is coming?

Thanks for this now i know why this happens. I posted a topic about my phone freezing, not knowing why. I really think Samsung NEEDS to get rid of T9 on the qwerty keyboard. Theres no point. The only reason I use it is because i get lazy to take it off after using the standard keyboard.
