Hi, right now I have the $30 plastic cover that they sell at the official AT&T stores. The other day, I unfortunately dropped my phone on the sidewalk and was surprised (and irritated) to find my phone had separated from its cover upon impact. I'm planning to return this P.O.S. overpriced cover, but before I do that, I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction of a cover that will actually stay on the phone and protect it when it drops? Thank you!

I don't think you are going to find anything better than what you got from ATT. Any plastic cover will help absorb some of the shock when it falls but it all depends on how far it falls, on what it hits, and at the angle that it hits. I'm pretty sure you would have gotten more damage without the case.
