Wow...nice! An FM transmitter for our phone - didn't know they made one. I have one for my Ipod but since I carry my phone more than my Ipod, I might have to consider getting this. Especially since my whole music collection is on my 8gig memory card!  Grin

FM transmitters are... nice... but for me at least the sound quality is horrible and it sounds like you are listening to a regualr radio station which is pointless if i am in my car which you can plug the ipod/phone into for high quality sound

also they tend to break on me... A LOT... and they dont always reach my car attena

I agree...the FM transmitters don't sound as good as when I plug directly into my car's audio jack, but since I use a separate work vehicle that isn't equipped with an audio jack, I can use the FM transmitter to listen to my own music instead of listening to the radio.

I used one (belkin) for awhile for my semi, as the deck had no input & the cd player was shot. It had reasonable sound quality but it had to be "just so".
Now I heard that the fcc started regulating how powerfull these can be after the sat radio ones were overpowering peoples radios in other vehicles. So im gonna find out if there is a good retail unit or a "hack" in which a person could up the tx strength

If you want a better FM transmitter you will have to look for one about 5 years or older. It was a few years back that they changed this. Too many people on crowded highways was drowning others out. Newer models have issues getting a good signal in your own car alone.

Ok boys n girls...found it:
http://www.wholehousefmtransmitter.com/

Now it is a little on the spendy side (100$ with a multitude of cool accessory's) but im sure you could find one on e-bay

EDIT: 70 bucks on ebay, and I found another company that makes 5w xmiters as well.
I could see this being cool in my little hometown of 8500 people and 17 miles of road end to end.....just fire that thing up on a open band and play a good playlist
= james pirate radio.....until the FCC shows up. But it would be in a tiny town in southeast alaska....so maybe no FCC involvement ever!! I could only imagine all the happy people with a new alternative to 3 boring jerk stations all the time

I have been goofing around with FM transmitters for my iPod and Tomtom GPS.  Problem is that in crowded places like the East Coast (I live near Baltimore) you can buy the most expensive FM transmitter and it still won't do the job since every FM slot is filled with radio stations within range.   The transmitter signal gets staticky due to cross-channel interference and quality goes downhill.  Better to spend the extra money for a car stereo with an aux input or bluetooth.

For any Subaru owners without a factory Aux Input check out www.jazzyengineering.com.  The site will tell you the specifics, but it works on cars with the 6 disk CD changer on selected Impreza, Outback and Forresters.  I have had this on my 2005 WRX for the last 3.5 years and it works like a charm.

Installation requires some technical knowledge, as you will have to remove the head unit from the dash and take the radio apart.  It took me about half an hour and works so much better than the FM Transmitter I had been using.

you can get a hardwired fm modulator for most cars for like $50. requires you to take your radio out and hook into the car's antenna lead, but its slightly better than an fm station with 0 static. some cars require antenna adapters, but they will work in just about any car with an fm radio.

im an MECP cert. technician so if you have any question about your car specifically just let me know.

EDIT: of course you still need the headphone adapter thingy for the phone but i just ordered on on amazon for $3, we'll see how well it works
