So it has a 3.5mm headphone and female mini-usb port.  So you can listen to your Impression with regular headphones while charging with a generic USB charger.... odd combo, but cool.  Of course now all 4 cell phones in my house are now 20-pin Samsung devices!

What'd be super cool is to have a 20-pin male to a combo of 20-pin femail,  3.5mm and mini-usb  Grin

It doesnt say if its just for charging or if it can be used for data.

I would suspect that it's both... unless the manufacturer of this device was as stupid as Samsung was before they realized that you can charge AND do data in the same cable.

...and, for that matter, who the *&$#@!  needs 20 pins?  Even HPC block-based, network file systems (so we're talking multiple gigabytes/second) run over serial Layer 1.  This is what makes USB so great.  OK so you want audio and power and data?  Power and data wrapped up in USB alone... 5 pins.  And headset audio?  4 pins.  What are the other 11 pins for? Porn?!

What they are for I cant tell you. But if this company can save 2 cents by leaving 2 wires out they just might have.

In fact the splitter I got from fommy.com has 2 female usb and the 2.5mm jack. Only one of the usb can be used for data transfer. The other is only good for charging.

So dont assume its good for both. I only mentioned that because the add said for charging. It didnt say anything about data transfer.

The iGo USB/adapter/chargers that Radioshack pushes on people can only be used for charging, not for data. Of course, the Radioshack employees don't know that, so they keep selling them to people.

I had to ream out the guy that sold it to me because I specifically asked him if it would do so, and he 'promised' it would.

OK here's one that specifically says it is for audio + charging with USB.

Though, what I really want is headset + charging.

Finally you found one. Great find. I might have to order that one too and put my McGuyver ones away for backup.

While you were looking, did you happen to come across a 3.5mm and a samsung 20 pin instead of a mini usb one?

That would be the holy grail... actually, I think I did (spoken about in another thread), but it was for the old 20-pin connector... booooo.
