I have not done too much to my phone.  this is what I did,  I took out my sd card and put it in my computer and imported the files from it.  I can open the pics and videos, but there is no sound.  can anyone help me with this, just need to know if i need to download a codec or something, and where to get it.  Thanks Undecided

Short answer - yes it is probably a codec issue.

Playing video files can be a mess. Try another player, VLC seems to work for most video formats and most platforms (Windows, Linux). The player you used is simply not recognizing the format of the audio stream that is with the video (I am assuming you ruled out unplugged speakers, volume down all the way, etc.)  Wink

Another free application for Windows is IrfanView. It will play almost any video format if you install the plugins available for it.

I have used both VLC and IrfanView for playing videos taken with my phone.

It looks like this thread continues to remain unresolved.  I'm having the same problem transferring videos to my computer.  Is there a codec readily available to solve this issue?  VLC will not play the audio, either.

I would prefer to be able to use these video files on Windows Media Player, I have a lot of videos of my son I would like to transfer to disc.

Off hand you need to install a mp4 codec for audio I believe.

Resolution: download and install the K-Lite Codec Pack

The "Haali Media Splitter" is what activates while playing the video files that I have transferred to the computer from my phone.
