Hey guys!

Here is a suggestion box where you can post what updates you would like to see on the forum. You can suggest visual changes, more colour schemes, or whatever you have in your head.

So, if you would like to see some changes, here is where you can state them.

Please read the rules before posting, as well as searching to see if your suggestions are already posted.

Thanx

I put it to 5 for now, as there may be some people out there that have slower connections, and 8 might really bog down there system.

If 5 does not bog down anyone, I will increase it.  ::smile::

Update:5 seem to be ok, no complaints, so I can bumped it to 10

A few people have been asking for the ability to give cookies. That would be cool. Smiley

I'd love to learn how to create widgets, and to hack the generic apps so as to make them work with the Samsung proprietary OS (esp. the native keyboard).  If there are exerienced Samsung mobile devs on this board, it'd nice to throw ideas around and learn a thing or to.

VKitty, I've seen forums where if you hover your mouse over a thread title you see a paragraph or so of the first post of that thread. An example: http://www.emfamily.com/forum That's helpful if you have threads with titles like "Help" or "?" where you can't tell what the topic is before actually clicking on it (although these threads are more prevalent on the Eternity forum). This is just an idea though, i like the forum the way it is, but i thought this is a nice feature to have.  Smiley

There are so many great threads that I have read and learned from, however when I go to visit them again, I forget where they were located.  Is there a way to mark a thread or topic as a favorite and have it stored in my personal settings?   Undecided

I thought we had bookmarks. Maybe a good way would be to save the thread as a shortcut on the desktop. Then you can rename it exactly and keep them all in one folder. I will look into the bookmark though.

I see that the search function is highly... and shall I dare say... at times adamantly, vehemently, rudely, and even, passive aggressively suggested to be used.

Rightly so,  because people who do not take the time to see if their question has not already been thunked up and answered (We ALL know they are the only ones smart enough who would ever think of asking their question...ever...)  are in my mind jamming this site with unnecessary threads and waste my time searching.

Anyway, the search function needs some fine tuning (or maybe I do).  When I type in a phrase, and set it to search all words, am I misunderstanding that this should search for the phrase in entirety and not each word individually?  Plus can we set it somehow to search WHOLE words and not parts of words?   Did I miss something?

Thanks. Great site, lots of info.

If you want a phrase then it is like any other search. Say I want to search for slow slider keyboard. Then put it in quotes like this. "slow slider keyboard". Of course you will get less results this way. So you need to be careful of your choice of words.

And yes we do try to over stress the search function. And in most cases I don't give a hoot. But when someone new comes onto the forum and his/her first post is "How to install games because everything they put on the memory card says unsupported" I do get a little irrate. Or how many times does someone have to ask why they cant connect to TKFE. Do you know that I probably said over 200 times between this forum and the eternity forum to put your phone in pc-studio mode or try rebooting your phone.

When questions get asked over and over it makes it harder for the next person to find info.  And its just that some are too lazy to sit down and read some stickies.

I love this site and am appreciative of everyone who makes it a bit easier to navigate this phone. I have also been treated very well, which if you frequent forums of any kind, you know is quite rare.

I say that to say this.

If you are a complete newbie here (like I am) It's not easy to find info on a couple things. I'm not a newbie to internet forums as I have been a mod on a couple, both quite large. I know I must search before asking questions and I have done that to the best of my ability. My age also has a bit to do with it (47) and haven't had the opportunity of being taught while in school.. you know, we chiseled our homework on stone tablets and all that stuff.

A glossary of terms would be great.  Maybe it could be added to the forums tool bar along with "Home, Ringtones, Wallpapers Etc...."  I KNOW it's asking a lot as it will be a big job. As people are able, it could be added to over time. Maybe volunteers could be added to help out, those who have been here while and know what they are doing.

It took me quite awhile to figure out what TKFE was.. much less what to do with it. When I opened up TKFE, it scared the crap outta me lol. I had no clue what I was looking at and I got out pretty quick because I was afraid of messing something up accidentally. (I am not touching it again until I know more)  A glossary of TKFE would be a huge help.

Anyway.. I appreciate all of you for your help and I admit, I would have sent this phone back already if it hadn't been for this place.  Thanks!

P.S. If there is a glossary of terms here somewhere and I missed it, please be gentle in slapping me about.

BillyG im glad you hesitated before fiddling around with TKFE. Just search "TKFE" and there should be a couple of threads that either talk about what it is, where you can get it, and how to use it.

I think we should create a special section for a game archive. There admins and mods can post direct links to jars. It would also help if they were sorted alphabetically.
