aGoattamer, if you might help,
I finally went ahead and paid the annual fee for aMazeGPS, as an alternative to paying $10/month for ATT Navigator. Audio turn-by-turn is nice, but who knows if and when Google will ever offer their app for non-Android?
I followed the vendor instructions for downloading via phone & installing. And they even had a choice for Samsung A877....
Several problems:
1) It will not recognize or latch onto the Impression built-in GPS. Endless looking for it, etc.
2) Also every startup results in queries for: * Allow amaZe to launch? * Allow amaZe to retrieve SMS information? * OK to send information? (Data charges may apply.) * Allow amaZe to retrieve SMS information? - Allow, ask once - No, never ask
Since I can't get the GPS to "engage" or be recognized by the app, I can't update location, get driving directions, etc.
I attach a copy of the .jad file.
I read your Goatbreaking instructions on "How to allow full permissions for all apps." I noted your instructions to add...
MIDlet-Touch-Support: True
...to the bottom of the .jad file. However, when I looked at the amaZe .jad, I can see it's already included. In any case it still didn't work.
Later on you discuss permissions for the GPS function, etc. You give as example the following permissions needed.
javax.microedition.io.Connector.http javax.microedition.location.Location javax.microedition.io.Connector.sms javax.wireless.messaging.sms.send javax.microedition.io.Connector.file.read javax.microedition.io.Connector.file.write
But it didn't seem to specifically instruct to install these lines. Do I need to add these also? Many of these are also in their .jad file.
The tech support at amaZeGPS over in Israel didn't appear to have a clue as to what was causing the problem. "Take it outside and give it some time to locate the GPS." Yeah. I did this several times.
In any case, I would greatly appreciate it if you'd take a look at the enclosed .jad, review the symptoms above, and perhaps offer some advice as to what I should do.
Thanks, in advance.
Forever in your debt, --ernest
