I got directed here from AT&T's forums, the wealth of information here is awesome.

Basically I want to be able to just directly use the keypad in any Java program I use.
As of now, Opera Mini lets me, but Bolt and Google Maps require me to get to the point where I can type in the Java program, but then I have to touch the blue text field to get to the Impression's entry field. Then type, then hit ok so the impression can send it to the program, then ok again so the program can enter it into the text field.

Hopefully that was clear enough :/

I did the same thing for each program (Add Rotate or Landscape and enable Touch for fullscreen) but the behavior was different and I'm not sure why.

I also still get the message warning me about data charges, which is what I have to fix next. That's all over the forums though, that I can find by myself.

You need to goatbreak the apps to stop the asking for internet use.

As far as whether you have to go through the bluescreen or not depends on the 3rd party app itself. Most applications are made for a universal touchscreen phone. Not for our keyboard. Opera mini lets you write to the address bar because of it's settings. But there are other text entries with opera mini that you will still see the blue screen. It is just how it is. Apps would have to be written specifically for our phone.

Ok, bummer about the keypad thing but that's noting compared to how annoyed I was  before I found this site.

As for the permissions thing, I just forgot to delete the folder when editing the jad file. Thanks a ton.

Happy the forum helped you. Trust me, no one was more disappointed with the impression than I was. Great full feature phone but so locked down by ATT.

Hmmm -- on a related note, I don't mind the blue text entry screen so much (and I'm sure I sound like an idiot), but what to do about 'Ok' and 'Cancel'? Toucing them doesn't work; I assume the program is looking for physical soft-keys. I have actually searched for an answer, but I must be using the wrong keywords.

Any clues?

Thanks for the reply -- as it turns out, they work fine on my phone as well, it's just that the touch placement is a little wonky. Odd -- I have a similar issue with AmazeGps 5's touch interface as well, yet other apps are just fine.

Thanx anyway -- and thanks for the goatbreaking tutorial. Used it plenty in the last 24 hours.

Have you tried to recalibrate your touchscreen? Also I find some apps have very small touch points and I use a stylus which works well.
