This thread will be all about TKFE and nothing else. I encourage anyone and everyone to post here with hints and their problems.

1)What is TKFE?

TKFE is a file explorer that you run on your pc. It is used to see the filesystem of your phone.

2)Where do I get TKFE?

The download link is at the bottom of this post

3)What do I need to do before using TKFE?

Before using TKFE you have to install the drivers for it to work. They can be obtained by installing samsung pc studio or the standalone modem drivers.  I recommend installing pc studios because you can connect with your phone through it to verify that you can make a connection.

I also recommend the pc studio for the eternity or the solstice. Our version has left out many options and is crap in my opinion. Samsung pc studio can be downloaded from samsung.com.

4)How to connect with TKFE?

For the first time trying to connect it can be a problem. I recommend rebooting your pc. Close PC studios. It can not be running. Also shut down the monitoring icon in the taskbar. Also close any un-needed programs like IM messengers.

On your phone go menu/settings/connectivity/Select USB mode/ and select samsung pc studio and then save.  Now reboot your phone.

Start up TKFE. Wait about 10 seconds then plug your phone in. Wait 10 seconds and select settings then com. A new window will pop up. Select the drop down menu arrow next to port and select the port. Should only be 1 port listed. Then select OK. Then select connect. If everything goes correctly and it might not, you will be connected and see your phones filesystem appear down below.

5)My com port is not listed.

In this case with your phone plugged in go to your device manager and select samsung mobile modem under modems. Your com port will be listed in its properties. Enter it in TKFE as COM#. You must have the com and the number with no spaces.

6)I get an error when trying to connect.

I hate to tell you that this is normal for some. The connection through TKFE is very unstable. Things you can try. Disconnect phone and try again. Reboot your phone and try again. Reboot your phone while connected and try again. Reboot computer.  After connecting phone wait till your screen on phone goes black before hitting connect.  Close TKFE and try again. Its all a matter of timing the first time. Trust me once you get connected the first time it connects everytime after that without any issues.

7)How do I use TKFE?

OK you are all connected and up and running. Top window is where you navigate to the files you want to put on your phone or where you want to save the files uploaded off of your phone.

Bottom window is your phone and works the same way.

You cannot drag from your desktop to TKFE. All movement of files must be done in TKFE. If you want to download a file from your computer to your phone you must open the folder on your phone. You cannot drag to the folder. You drag to the open folder. Or you can right click on the file and select download. It will take the file to the open window down below. Works the same way when uploading from phone to computer.

8 )I get an error when downloading from computer to phone.

This happens much. Learn to live with it. Disconnect your phone and reboot it. Then try again. And again. Just download over the incomplete file till it downloads fully without giving an error. It will eventually go.

Transfer 1 file at a time. Do not try to download a folder with multiple files. It will error about everytime. If you need a folder made on the phone then make it with TKFE. Right click in the open window and make a new folder. Name it what you want.

9)I want to delete a file and it wont let me.

Just like the above error, often TKFE wont let you delete. Disconnect your phone from TKFE and try again.

10)Can I use TKFE to put music and pics on phone?

I suggest not to. Your phone will not recognize the media files without an update done to the media database done in the internals of the phone. Use mass storage mode or the pc studio program for media files.

11) I cant install pc studio because I have Vista or windows 7 64 bit operating system.

Pc studio is not supported on these operating systems. However pc studios can be installed in compatibility mode and run in compatibility mode to get it to work. I dont have this OS so I ask someone who does to write a tutorial in this thread for connecting with 64bit systems. Please.

12)I have a mac.

You are out of luck. You need a microsoft computer.

13)Is this all the hints.

There are many more. I encourage members to add to this thread. Please add your hints.

Any posts in this thread not concerning TKFE will be deleted. This is not a thread for gossip.

PC studio for the eternity can be downloaded here
PC studio for the solstice can be downloaded here

TKFE and the standalone modem drivers can be downloaded below. But again i recommend you install pc studio to get the drivers. But if you really dont want to I am including the drivers. Dont install both.

I was stuck at a blank port, now phone show connection, however now in the phone section it does not show file tree, like it show with the PC side on top.
What do need to do to see file tree?............just shows the Phone there with its ID, if I click on the plus there is nothing.

What I am missing here?

If you deleted it using phone then it shouldnt be there. Unless you put multiple copies in different places when installing originally.

As far as deleting did you read the first post?

The final step that worked for me:  Changing the default USB port setting in my phone.  I had it set to Auto and found the hint somewhere on the forum and tried and suddenly I was connected.

I have not got to the a delete part yet for that to take place I first need to get games installed, for that to take place I have to see or get a files tree first. In order to install it to the correct path.

No error even shows up when I connect as pic shows here

You should have gotten an error if it didnt connect. I cant be positive as you have a different phone but the process should be the same.  Can you connect to pc studio?

There is no auto. You set it on Samsung PC studio as told to in the first post.
