Hi I can't seem to get connected to New Pc Studio IC8 there cannot use TKE. After I install the program, connect the phone via USB it finds and registers the drivers mainly the Samsung Modem, I open NPS and when I try to connect the device, it only sees the Samsung Mobile Modem, there fore I cannot connect my phone since it says another program is using it.  I have tried to UNINSTALL ALL Samsung device drivers and programs, restarting then reinstalling NPS IC8, but as soon as I connect the phone, it registers the Samsung Mobile Modem, there-fore I cannot use the New Pc studio.  And since I can't connect with NPS, I cannot use TK explorer. It recognizes the com port just fine, and under device manager, under Modems, I see the Samsung Mobile Modem, as well as the com port it uses under properties. The modem it recognizes is the 4.40.7 which I downloaded from here. In TKE i could always see the com port, but could never connect. I believe the main problem is the modem is in use? In which I have already checked the network connections and have no install the Samsung Modem to use the Internet. What do you suggest I do? PS: I'm running Windows XP.

Alright life3k, so you need to uninstall IC8 completely, including the drivers and reinstall an older version of NPS. Many people have had more luck with the version that comes with the solstice so you could try that out.  But you really need to make sure that all of the IC8 comes off your computer, including the drivers otherwise you'll have a whole new set of errors and conflicts.

If you're not interested in using NPS for anything at all (don't need it to sync contacts/email/etc) then the version on the CD works fine with all the correct drivers for the phone, which is all you need to get TKFE to recognize the phone.  It will still load the drivers for so that you can use the phone to tether but it should get you to the point where you can utilize TKFE.  That's what I installed from on my netbook (also running XP) and it works fine for me.

Dear Swell Kitty, So I did as you said...I uninstall every Samsung Driver and Software, like I have done before, then I put in the Impression CD and it lead me to SamsungMobile website for the Impression, and downloaded the NPS on their page..which is the exact same is NPS IC8 72megs...then reinstall it after I have restarted the computer. Alas, the same problem arises, as soon as I connect my phone, it sees the drivers and installs cdm and samsung modem...so when i start NPS, and try to connect, it only sees the Samsung Modem..and says its in use so I can't connect to it....Then I Uninstall all of that...went to control panels, erase all the Samsung drivers and software again...and install the solstice version of NPS...as soon as I connect the phone, same thing, sees the drivers installs samsung modem...etc...and the solstice version also cannot detect my phone...thus even with hope I try TKE and it sees the com port, but cannot connect...given I have restarted the phone still plug in, didn't work, restart computer, didn't work...The Main Problem That I'm getting from this is that the Samsung Modem is preventing NPS and TKE from recognizing my phone through the USB...so what do you reccomend I do?

Not sure on your issue. But it is the samsung mobile modem you use to connect with pc studios or tkfe.

If you go to device manager when you have your phone connected, how many modems do you have listed? Possibly you have 2 mobile modems listed. Uninstall all modems from the device manager (except your hardware modem if one is installed).  Do you have anything in device manager  that is not showing installed corectly?

In the device manager, I only have the One Samsung Modem installed, I have already tried uninstalling it directly from the device manager, and reinstalling the NPS program, but its still the same. And No there is nothing wrong in my Device Manager. I have used the Samsung modem before to connect to the internet, but I have already tried completely uninstalling that, as well as from the Network Connections. I have also tried resetting the settings from my phone. I can't seem to figure it out. Perhaps is there anything in the registry that I should delete? I don't know...haha

Hello, I have a Samsung Flight A797. Everything seems similar to the Impression. I start TKFE and set the com port as described. When I try to get TKFE to connect to the phone it shuts down saying TKFileExplorer MFC Application has stopped working and close program. I'm running Vista on my PC and have been able to connect to New PC Studio.  Any suggestions? The only thing I can think might be a problem is I have data blocked through ATT so the phone won't connect to the internet.

This has nothing to do with the internet. Not sure if this works with the flight. They might have found some way to block it.  Try running TKFE in administrator mode or xp compatability mode.

I was stuck at a blank port, now phone show connection, however now in the phone section it does not show file tree, like it show with the PC side on top.
What do need to do to see file tree?............just shows the Phone there with its ID, if I click on the plus there is nothing.

What I am missing here?
Did you ever get it to work. I had the same problem. It would connect but no file tree.

I tried many times, but had no success.  I ended up buying the unlimited data plan for $10 and downloaded a couple free games.  If I choose I can turn the data plan off again.  I think that was the best way to go considering the headache with no success.  Good Luck.
