Here is how to get the drivers to work on a 64-bit computer.
Windows Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64 (mine Windows 7 x64):
1. Install New Samsung PC Studio (you will have problems with USB drivers installation, skip them)
2. Connect your phone.
3. Open Device Manager.
4. Right click and Update Drivers on any unrecognized device (choose search for drivers or w/e [not online])
5. Then Choose the pc studio installation folder
6. Then let it update the drivers...
7. Windows will recognize  Samsung USB Composite Device (or something like this)
8. Then after Installing refresh the Device Manager and there will be another Unknown Device.
9. repeat step 4-5 on the new unrecognized device
10. After that windows will recognize Samsung Modem (or something like that). New Pc Studio will then automatically start and connect to your phone, it give an error but it works perfectly!!!!

I hope this helps!!!  Grin

I cannot get my computer to even recognize my phone. I initially installed the PC Studio for the Impression using the disc that came with it. The program installed but apparently not the drivers even though at one point during the installation it said "installing drivers". I then uninstalled that using the control panel. I tried the PC studio for the solstice and got the same result. I could not locate the drivers for that version of PC studio. When I connect my phone to my computer, the balloon pops up that says "found new hardware" then I get the wizard to install. I start the process of installing but the wizard can never find the software even though I tell it to scan the cd rom drive where the disc is. As far as the device manager goes, there is only an "unknown device" under "Other devices" in the device manager. This "unknown device" is my phone but the driver isn't there. When I try to get the driver through the device manager, the hardware wizard comes up again, and again it cannot find any software. I want to know how to fix this driver problem so I can continue with the TKFE process. I have my phone already set to PC Studio under connections.

Chartedlife posted something 2 posts up. However I disgree with that method. It is obvious you have a 64bit operating system. Would be nice to know exactly what you have. My advice is to uninstall pc studio. Reboot your pc. Then install pc studio for the solstice in compatibility mode. If using windows7 then use vista compatibility mode. If using vista then xp compatibility mode. You can select this by right clicking the pc studio install icon. After installed you need to do the same when running pc studio.

Make sure your phone isnt connected to the pc. Uninstall pc-studio and ALL samsung drivers. Reboot your pc. Install solstice version again. Do not plug phone in till pc studios is installed.

Goat - I did as you suggested and I'm still getting the Found New Hardware Wizard when I plug in my phone. I chose Install From a Specific Location in the wizard. I browsed to where I installed PC Studio and tried using the drivers listed under USB Drivers folder. None worked. I tried any file that was a driver listed under PC Studio and none worked. I really don't understand why this won't work. The drivers are obviously installed  because they come up in the list of files under PC Studio. In the device manager the phone is not listed under Modems, but under Other Devices as in my previous post. When I click on Unknown Device under Other Devices, in the General Tab it says This device is not configured correctly  (Code 1) and there is a button to reinstall the driver. This brings me back to the wizard that I can't get to work. When I open PC Studio with the phone plugged in, it tells me that the driver hasn't been installed. I also got an error upon opening PC Studio that says:  DB Initialisation Failed Table 'VERSION_INFO' already exists. Any ideas?

I'd say you have issues with your pc. Run any virus or spyware scans lately?

I just ran AVG, Ad-Aware and MalwareBytes. Only a couple cookies trackers. Got rid of them. Plugged phone in and got same result. Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that I'm plugging an Impression into a computer with a program for a Solstice?

No it doesnt matter. Most are using the solstice pc studio since the impression's version was so limited.

Do you have any other drivers installed on your pc for phones that you have had in the past? Try using a usb port on the back of your pc. Do not go through a usb hub if you happen to be.

Also is your OS 64bit?

I'm running 32 bit XP.

I don't have any other drivers as far as I know. I uninstalled everything driver-wise in Control Panel when I uninstalled PC Studio.

I have a laptop and have plugged the cable in to the usb port on the side of it. Not sure what you mean by usb hub. This port is part of the computer.

Ay this point you have me stumped. Try contacting samsung support via phone. They should be able to help you get it installed. I am not sure what you may be missing.

Are you running any apps like zone alarm that might be blocking the connection? All that I can think of at this moment.

Woohoo! I got it to work! I discovered a link for the How-To guide on samsung's impression page. It gave steps to follow if your phone wasn't connecting. What I didn't know was that the phone could need more than one driver in the list. I just went down the list of USB drivers and #3 was the one that worked.
Thank you for all your help, Goat! I can't wait to get started Goatbreaking! LOL

Don't run off yet. Please elaborate a little more how you fixxed your situation.  I have seen others with the same problem before and all the help you could give would be much appreciated.  Glad you got it going.
