mass storage has nothing to do with TKFE. Phone needs to be in PC studio mode and connected to find com port. Did you read first post of this thread?

Ok everything is working fine went to device manager used the com port for the modem, I see the phone in TKFE I create the folder on the phone, transfer the files over great, look in the phone and the files I just created on TKFE do not show on the phone.. What I’m I missing?  My OS is Vista.

Ok I missed a step forgot the master key step my bad.. Thanks for all the good info!

When all jars and jads are in the folders then disconnect from TKFE

Open up your dial pad and enter the following, *#6984125*#.

Choose INTERNALS and enter the following, *#3818790*#.

Now scroll down and choose Storage Settings. Then update Java DB, followed by update apps database.

Now you are finished.

Go to Menu>Applications/Apps & Games. Your newly installed app should be visible!!!

So, all I have to do is install Samsung PC studio to get the drivers then? I'm confused  Huh . I can't get the Com# because it says I have no drivers.
The phone doesn't come up as a modem in device manager.

Happy to report that I am able to get PC studio to talk to my impression.  Win 7, 64bit, AMD.  Uninstalled everything that had Samsung/Nokia in it.  Deleted folders.  Cleaned registry with ccleaner and manually.

Rebooted.

Installed Solstice version in Vista (without SP 1 or SP2) compatibility mode as admin.  Ran in Vista compatibility mode as admin.

First run it did not detect the device.  Went to device manager and tried to manually install drivers.  After trying a few times with "cant find driver for your device".  I gave up.  (Don't think this step helped but don't know, maybe pointing to the correct folder here for drivers helped, just don't know) Then ...

I closed PC Studio, unplugged phone.  Replugged in usb, win 7 indicated it was installing driver.  This completed without problem and PC Studio launced itself and saw the phone.  I could see contents of the phone.  Phew!  Hope this is stable and I can do it again tomorrow.

Next ...

Will check if TKFE can see the phone.  (COM 4 is used for the samsung modem)

TKFE sees com4 and can connect to the phone too!
So thanks for all the posts here.  Eventually I am able to get both PCS and TKFE working.

Next step for me is goatbreaking ...

For any one else having trouble . COM4 is not what it has to be set at . It was for those to posters , yours might be different . Mine connects on COM3 . Set it for what your PC tells you it is .

My success was short lived.  I installed one app using TKFE, unplugged and tried the application. Then when I tried to reconnect.  Device manager said driver was not installed, PCS and TKFE did not see the phone.  When I tried to scan for hardware changes in device mangager it said it could not find the driver.  What gives? Why was I able to do it a few hours ago and cannot now?

I installed the one for the solstice. Yeah, my phone is in PC studio mode, and Vista 32 bit. As soon as I plug my phone in it says I need to install the drivers. When I attempt to install them I get stuck on "Searching for windows update".

I believe somewhere in this thread it says to point the drivers update to one of the pc studio driver files found in program files/pc studio

Ugh. Yeah I just can't get it to work. It would probably be easier to just download the drivers seperately I guess right?
