Hi everyone, I'm having a problem when I use TKFE, first of all, when I'm going to connect my phone to TKFE, on the port area, there's none available for me, so I just type COM4(which is the one showed on control panel>telephone and modem options)
after that I connect my phone and it seems ok, but when I select either the jar or jad file to download to my phone, the transfer window pops up but, right away i get an error "TKFileExplorer MFC Application has stopped working" then i have to close the program.

I would so appreciate if anyone could help me with it. Thanks.

EDIT: damn I'm a noob, I should have read the first post, apparenlty its normal to get errors there, anyway I don't know if its the same error, would appreciate if someone could clear up my doubt.

That error is not common. I suspect you have computer issues.

Hi, I am having a problem getting my Samsung Impression to work with TKFE. I have read this entire thread and just about all documentation on the web before posting.

I am having the same issue another person was having that posted here. I can connect to my phone with TKFE without any error messages at all. However, when I click on the "phone:" to browse it there is nothing listed at all. There are no trees to expand out. No folders or files are listed in the bottom window of the program at all. Just the root "phone" and I can't create any folders there or download any files.

I can use my phone fine with PC studio. Of course I followed all precautions and made many attempts with the same results each time. PC studio is totally off, including the system tray icon. All programs and off and my virus scanner is disabled. Using Windows XP 32-bit (I tried this on my Win 7 64-bit machine and that went far worse). Tried restarting the phone after connecting it to the USB. Have it set to default to PC studio USB connection type in the settings (restarted my phone after setting that too). Frankly, I have been so careful that I can't possibly believe that I am doing something wrong.

I just got the phone 2 days ago. Could it be that the latest version of the operating system is protected from this program?

Let me know what you think. Thank you.

If you are seeing just phone and no tree then you are not connected. You should have received an error. When you hit connect you should see tree immediately. If it won't connect then you will see just phone. Then after maybe 10 to 20 seconds the error will appear. Reboot and try again.

Uhg,

I had the port wrong. PC Studio told me COM3, so I thought it was the last thing that could be wrong. I either misread or it lied because it was actually COM4.

Sorry.

I am using version NPS 1.2.0 IF1. I am able to connect using TKFE to my phone and Upload and download files successfully. But everytime i try to copy .JAR file in my EXE/JAVA/Games/GameName folder, TKFE closes. Most of the times it copies only 5 to 9 kb of .jar file. I tired copying .jar files in other folders, it is done successfully. I tired with restarting PC and Phone. Any suggestions?

Hello all!

I am attempting to connect to TKFE and I am having great difficulties.

When attempting to connect, I get this error: "Unable to open the Specified Port, please try again."

I've tried all the hints in this entire thread, including firefly's advice. I've restarted each item in various orders, I've tried waiting 3 minutes to connect, everything.

I am attempting to connect to TKFE for the purpose of installing BlueFTP to use my memory card for games and apps.

I cannot connect to any version of PC Suite, as I get the error that my device is being used by another program. I've read that getting this error means I'm pretty much boned. Does this also mean I will never successfully connect to TKFE?

I am using Windows Media Center Edition. Uninstalling and reinstalling is not an option for my OS (well, it is an option, but it has to be a last resort as reinstalling all of my gaming tools and school tools would be days of work). I might be able to upgrade my OS to say...just plain old XP if I ask around for a copy.

I could also maybe try using my boyfriend's computer, he uses Windows 7?

I guess I am just wondering what my next step SHOULD be. I don't *think* we have a data plan, but if we DO, should I just download BlueFTP from online the first time and save myself this hassle?

Doesnt matter if you install using online. You still need TKFE to goatbreak it then.

Sounds like your pc is the issue. Uninstall pc studios and all samsung drivers. Also any other phone software that is not needed from past phones. Reboot pc  and then install again.

You are getting the port error because you are using the wrong com port.

I tried doing that previously, and then again just now after you suggested.

I even restarted both my computer and phone multiple times to be safe.

I am still getting the same issue.

All phone related drivers were uninstalled as well.

I am looking at the Samsung modem under device manager and it says COM3. I enter COM3 into TKFE and get the error.

For funzies I even tried COM4 and no dice.

OK... I'm such a noob sometimes. I've been trying to connect in TKFE for about 2 hours now and finally figured it out. A simple mistake that I'm sure a few people have made. I read the procedure and thought I'd followed it precisely, but misunderstood a simple detail. I was already connecting to PC Studio without any probs... just couldn't connect to TKFE.

At the point where it says to set your phone to "select usb mode", I mistook that for meaning when the phone connects and the window pops up asking if you want pc studio, mass storage, etc. I physically went into settings and changed this setting to "Samsung PC Studio" and now it connects easily every time. I first was having trouble on my Windows 7 64 bit pc, so I switched to my XP pro machine and was having the same probs with not connecting. After changing this setting on the phone... TKFE connects first time on either pc. Thx for everyones input....

Have you read through this thread? There are also other help already posted on the forum with this operating system. What have you tried? Just asking for help doesn't say much.

I got connected,  but I don't see anywhere on how to use this. Just where do I download the games to? Do I need the two files mentioned before or just the .jar file?

Please help!

Could you just give an example of a Port number that I should use in the COM? I guess it's Vista but when I find my phone in devices (there is no modem tab or anything) there's a ton of different things to look at and I really have no idea which one to use.
