display not working

So I started this repair because I dropped the phone and cracked the digitizer. Before disassembly, the only thing that was wrong was the crack. The touch screen still worked and so did everything else. So I replaced the digitizer and at first the screen worked but the digitizer didn't. I took everything back apart and saw a small slit in the flex cable. I got a new cable and installed it and the digitizer responds but still no screen. So I thought that I had messed up the display somehow so I ordered a new one. I installed it and still have no display. What could be the problem here. I've checked every connection repeatedly to no avail. I did lose a few screws in the process. Do any of these make a ground in the connection that could be causing this or would just say the phone is garbage now.

After checking everything with a magnifying glass, I found a loose resistor beside where the flex cable attaches to the main board. I must have nicked it when undoing the cable. It is so small I can't solder it. Anyone have an extra main board they would be will to let go of?
