This has been asked many times bernz2k9. Unfortunately we cant do it yet. Samsung has not let us know how to link widgets with apps. Its one of the items at the top of my list to figure out.

Given time I hope it will fall in place like the rest of our hacks.

while i like the widgets and all, it's really dissapointing that the only widgets that can be used are the ones that came on the phone.  It sure would be nice to be able to add them, or create your own shortcuts... like one for the web browser or your msg inbox.  Why didn't they add such simple features?  I like this phone but this is a huge turn off.

We can make our own widgets, just not to connect with apps yet. ATT nor samsung never said we could install new widgets. We discovered we could even though its not supported. The widget idea is new in development.

This is my first reply to a post but, my fiance has a samsung solstice and she has shortcuts to apps as widgets such as "create a new message " and a kicka$$ speed dial function, and a link to her videos. Is there anything in that firmware we can learn from or use?

Those widgets are encryted in the firmware . We do not have access to them. We do have our own speed dial widgets though.

I just looked at how to use the "speed dial" function, and as usual, Agoattamer is right.  And it's really easy to do.

On the widget bar, there is a widget that looks like a "blue phone with an orange star".  If you press it, it will open up a screen that will show the "Contacts" that you have labeled as "favorites".  Make sure you have "Favorites" selected.  It's the upper right drop down menu.

(the drop down menu give you three choices: Favorites, Contacts or Groups).  Make sure you have "Favorites" selected.

**Changing the Order of your Favorites**

If you want to change the order of your list, just <tap> the "Change Order" button shown on the bottom right.  Then, "tap, hold and move" the entry to the desired location. When you are done (and happy), tap the "OK" button on the bottom.  Then the next time you use the "speed dial" widget, it will be listed in the order (top to bottom) that you want!  Easy.  Simple.  Thanks Agoattamer!

It would have been easier to explain if I knew how to add pictures into this post, but alas, I don't know how.  This is also explained in the manual on page 91.  At least, on my manual!

Great explanation Spyke. But I thought that was a good speed dial widget. I like the favorite 5 widget myself. Great to add your top 5 favorites so you can call them or text them quickly.  Compacts nice and small and the pics are a good touch too.
