Help with renaming songs

Hi, This is my first time on this forum and I have read around the forums before asking for help.
 
My Samsung Impression is having a problem with renaming songs. The problem is whenever I attempt to rename my song by plugging in my Impression to my PC with the cable, choosing Music Player/ Mass Storage and rename the song from the Audio File on the PC. Then I unplug the cable and go check my phone but the song name is still the same! I have tried searching around but no one else seems to have this problem or posted on forums about it.  The only reason I want to rename them is because the songs I have are usually songs I download off the internet and some have names like 2.- SongName  when I look at it under the music section of my phone. This really bothers me though it may not to others.

I have tried using both Mass Storage and Music Player. I have rebooted my phone but still no change. Another thing is that the file name is changed when I look at the song on the PC from the phone while it is connected but on the phone there is no change.

I just rename them direct on the phone. I go to music folder and click more at the bottom and then rename and rename the files I have downloaded to what ever I want. Then reboot to update the names in my music player.

No problem. It's what we're here for.
