Hi everyone!  I am new to the Impression.  It just came in the mail yesterday.  In general I love it, but I have a beef with the Mobile Email feature.  When you go to "Menu" then "Messaging" then "Mobile Email" there is a list of email providers including some obscure ones, but Gmail is not there.  I am very surprised that Gmail is not available through the Mobile Email feature.  I have been accessing my Gmail account through the web browser, and that works okay, but is there a way to get Gmail through the Mobile Email feature?

No there isnt. There is a separate gmail application you can get from google. Or you can pay ATT $5 extra a month to get mobile email 3.0.  But it will not give you gmail alerts.

How do I get the gmail mobile application to work on the impression? Will I get email notifications from it?

Its listed on the forum in many places. You can also download it from google mobile. It will not give alerts.

Thank you, I have looked at the earlier posts. There is no charge or anything to use gmail mobile, is there? It's not like the 'mobile email' on the phone is it? I just got my phone and am still trying to get used to it. I have the unlimited data and messaging on my phone and just don't want to get charged for anything else!

Thanks for all your help.

The gmail app from google is free to use as long as you have a data package.

I have looked at the earlier posts but am still having trouble getting gmail to work. I cannot get TKFileExplorer to work in order to get the gmail jar and jad files onto my phone. Is there a website like the rumkin website to upload jad files to and download them to my phone? I know I can upload jar files there but am not sure how to do jad files. Thanks!

What step are you having issues with?  Is it not showing up in your apps/games list? This could mean you need to do a database refresh.

Check this thread:

http://www.samsung-impression.org/help-desk-25/dedicated-tk-file-explorer-tkfe-problems-and-hints/

It might help, and if it doesn't be more descriptive of the problem and maybe we can figure out what's going on.  The files here are good so it's probably just a simple step that got accidentally overlooked.

You could also just download it straight from google.  Although if it's an unsigned version it's gonna ask you every 5 seconds if it's ok to access your dataplan (might be wrong about this, don't know as I installed with TKFE).

Thank you. I'm sorry that I wasn't clear on the problem. I had been following the directions before from the link you provided. I was having trouble making a folder in the games & aps folder on my phone to download the gmail files into. I was also having trouble connecting my phone to TKFile Explorer. I found out which com# my phone was, but I still could not get it to connect.

I have tried downloading gmail from google before but was told that I needed the gmail jar and jad files from this site in order to have the screen flip when I pulled the keyboard out. So I deleted it and tried to install with TKFE.

Okay. I got my phone connected to to TKFE and I got the files into a folder in my Games and Aps section on my phone. I am now having issues with the entering numbers into my dial pad and such. I never had INTERNALS come up when I entered the first set of numbers on my phone. What am I doing wrong? This will not mess up anything on my phone will it?

Troublesome part:
"When all jars and jads are in the folders then disconnect from TKFE
Open up your dial pad and enter the following, *#6984125*#.
Choose INTERNALS and enter the following, *#3818790*#.
Now scroll down and choose Storage Settings. Then update Java DB, followed by update apps database. "

Thanks again for all your help! I love this forum!

So you only have 4 options pop up when you enter in the first code?  Or no list comes up at all?

I just entered in the code on mine to double check and it popped up no problem with 5 options:

1 Software Version
2 Pre-configuration
3 Network and call settings
4 Internals
5 Feature settings

You are entering the *# at the beginning and end of the numbers, right?
