Hey my boyfriend and I are trying to fix or do anything to his Impression - here's what happened. We are looking for any information, links, fixes, suggestions, any way to get data off of it in an emergency mode, ANYTHING. Thanks!

1. He woke up and tried to reply to a text he had gotten in the night. All hard buttons stopped working (keyboard included) and only the touchscreen worked. He couldn't shut it off, therefore. He removed the battery and restarted the phone.

2. BRIGHT blue screen with a loading bar at the bottom.

3. After that, the phone's entire screen is BRIGHT green. Nothing works.

We have seen this reported in three other places: one, on this forum, someone's 80 year old mother had this happen and she had not abused/done anything to the phone. Two, also on this forum, someone who bricked their phone had this happen and I dont know more details. They called it a "cool flashlight".  Huh :oThird, on yahoo answers, someone who asked and no one knew how to answer.

The water indicator is perfectly white. Phone is only 1 - 2 months old and has NEVER been dropped, has never been exposed to water/moisture, and has never been in the hot OR cold temps. We never even did any hacking or fooling with it.

There are some pictures on this of his cat and rat, both of who are now dead, and it would be really good to get these off. There are also a few texts saved that contained his passwords to his school account and some bank logins, these are not a big deal to recover, but we would like this data to be deleted ESPECIALLY if some deviant AT&T worker pulls these out of the files later. There have been some evil cases of this happening and even though we can't access the files, its likely they are hidden under there and we don't have access.

Even a master reset would be helpful, we'd rather delete it all than save it for someone to find.

Notes:

- Holding down the volume key while powering on does nothing.
- Pulling out the battery does nothing. Starting while plugged in changes nothing.
- We have tried it with SIM both in, and out, and with a different one.
- We have tried holding down many button combinations. No diff.

Even if no one can offer any help, we would like to post this so hopefully if other people have had this experience, we can have an area to discuss it on the internet - since this apparently is a rare brickage and we couldn't find much about it.  Check out the video! Thanks all!

looks like the phone is bricked to me and the only way to even repair would be a reflash of firmware which would get rid of the passwords that he has on there. I have seen someone talk about this before but all that they did was send in for a replacement which looks like what you may have to do. Att store "may" be able to help and do something that can delete everything off the phone but not too sure about that.

Thanks! Yeah, at this point, there is probably no hope to recover anything. That's okay I guess. Anyone have any ways we can somehow format the whole thing or delete all data off it? He said he would rather delete everything than to send it in with that stuff still on there. I guess his mom had a bad experience with some data being taken once off her bricked phone when she sent it in (T-Mobile a few years ago, not att, but still), and it turned into a big legal mess. Not that its likely to happen again but it would be nice to take care of it.
Thanks again

This happened to me too.  I really don't care for the pics but i have received a few texts and am unable to check them because of the touch screen not functioning.  Does anyone know how i may get to my text messages without having to use the touch screen?
