Okay.. thanks to all the helpful info, i was able to get the tethering working...once

i set up a connection through dial up with my phone plugged in via USB

it worked one time... now i connect and i get an error message.

ERROR:705  which essentially states that the modem is busy.. why is that?

also.. i tried to use PC studio and it is not even picking up my phone in the device area

I clicked search device and tried both COM ports but nothing was detected.

so...

if i can figure out how to get around that error message that would be great.. and is there a trick to getting your phone detected in PC studio..

yes , and thanks again for all your help.. in connectivity  i have it set to Pc studio..  i got it to work before which is very strange.. what should i do?

do you mean just restarting it , or actually reinstalling the os?  if just restarting, then should i have the phone connected via usb to the pc or unconnected..

he means shutting off the phone and turning it back on and Defiantly keep it connected to the pc

okay!! got it working again after completely turning computer off (not restarting) and then opening up PC Studio after it turned back on, i then had to turn my phone off and then on again.. when it finally recognized my phone.. i then was able to connect via tethering.. thanks again!! if i have any more issues, i know where to go!

Actually... for anyone reading this that needs help. In order to get tethering to work, i have to plug the phone in via USB then open up PC studio program
then i have to turn my phone off while plugged in USB, then when i turn it on it will register in PC studio. At that point i have to close to PC studio program and THEN go to 'connect to' i n the start menu and then choose my network and hit the dial button, that gets it working for me everytime..hope this helps someone.. It wont connect to the internet without registering in PC studio first, and the network wont connect while PC studio is open
