I tried doing a search and didn't find anything about this, but apologies in advance if I missed something.  When I first added my yahoo acct in the mobile email, I got little pop up notifications of new mail and then I could click to launch into the account.  Somehow, that just went away and now I don't get those pop up notifications of new mail.

I tried deleting my email account entirely, turning phone off and then back on, and then re-creating my acct, but still no notifications of new mail.  I've looked thru every setting on the phone I can think of, to no avail?  Anyone got other ideas?  Without the pushed mail and notifications of new mail, I may as well not have it at all... esp since I'd rather use gmail anyway and have already installed the mobile gmail app that I can log into when I need.

Thanks.  btw, I deleted and re-added my phone in Twitter and got it working, whew!

I too notice that message alerts happen when and if they want to. Just make sure you do have message alert turned on.  I would contact ATT if the issue persistes for you.

But I find having your email service send you an alert or a forwarded text is much more accurate and quicker than the mobile alert.

Thanks.  Could you please <forgive me> tell me how to make sure message alert is turned on?  Is that on the phone?  Somehow I'm just not seeing where that is.

However, I'll go see if I can have gmail send me alerts, that does sound better, then I wouldn't even have to use my yahoo acct.

To turn on email alerts you can open mobile email, login to your account, hit options, then scroll down and select email alerts and make sure 'enable' is ticked.  I agree with goat, it is best to just have your email client forward you a text or mms.  To set this up you can follow goat's instructions here: http://www.youmobile.org/samsung-impression/index.php?topic=433.msg1643#msg1643

Ok, got it.  My message alerts were enabled, but still wasn't getting them so the instructions for getting the gmail alerts is perfect.  Thanks, this forum is awesome!  I've had my impression for about a month and have had a million questions, but this was the first one I actually had to ask because I've found the answers to everything else, plus some.  I love this phone even more because of this forum!

I haven't used Mobile Email 3.0, but I was just wondering if you have unlimited data.  Because Mobile Email uses data, so I would highly advise you have an unlimited data plan if you are going to use that service.  And if you have unlimited data, you have to have unlimited texting.

Unlimited data and unlimited texting are different. You do not need one with the other.

But if you are using mobile email you should have unlimited data and unlimited texting if you are using message alerts.

Oh yeah sorry 'bout that.  I am on a family plan so I didn't realize that messaging wasn't included with data.  But good luck with the email thing.  If you try out Mobile Email 3.0 let us know how it works.

So AT&T wants another $5/month for 3.0???  That's ridiculous.  Nice  Roll Eyes how they didn't give an automatic upgrade from 2.n to 3.0 so you'd have to pay for it.
My email notifications on the 2.8.7 are very spotty.  In fact I just got a notification about a Live.com email and when I check there's nothing new.

Some days I get every email alert on EDGE and 3G.  Other days I get none of them.  It's super flaky.

Your not going to get true "Push Email" with the impression. You'll only get that with a smartphone (or PDA) connected to a blackberry or exchange server. Mobile email's alert is going to be delayed... if it comes at all. Best solution to simulate push email is to forward them to ####@txt.att.net or... even better in my opinion ####@mms.att.net (This will actually display the email addy it's coming from rather than a number).

If you want push, get a blackberry or winmo phone!

My personal experience for mobile email is that i get alerts.... occasionally.

I chat with AT&T rep and I've been told that I need to replace my phone.  Since I have two, I'm thinking about replacing them until AT&T acknowledge the problem and makes the necessary adjustments.
