I have two Samsung impressions. One that had a problem with its digitizer, the other with its flex cable and discoloration on the screen. I decided to replace both the digitizer and flex cable in the first one (after the original stopped working) and replace the flex cable in the second one.

Here is the problem. The first phone is having problems turning on all together. None of the keyboard lights come on. I know for a fact that the screen and the flex cable worked in the first one. In the second phone, the key board lights up and it vibrates but the screen remains blank. It doesn't even try to come on. I have tried two flex cables and many different digitizers.

Has anyone had this problem or has any advice? Is something not pushed in all the way?  I really need this phone for school and my mom. I have put these phones together many many times. I'm stuck.

The flex cable or the digitizer has nothing to do with the keyboard lights not working on the first phone. If they worked before you took it apart then you missed something.  Another cable is not connected correctly or you tore a cable elsewhere.

No picture on the second phone is either flex cable or LCD. Since you mentioned that it had discoloration before (whatever that means) and it is black now, either the flex cable was not installed correctly or the LCD has gone bad, or you did not connect another cable dealing with the LCD correctly.

Since both phones have issues different then when you first took them apart i would take them apart again and check all cables and pay close attention to the videos and your assembly method.

When I say discoloration I meant I could only see half of the screen and the colors were off. But I will try again and see if it is indeed the lcd screen or something that's not installed correctly.

Did you figure out why your screen wasn't working. I replaced the digitizer on mine and at first the screen worked but not the digitizer. Then I noticed the flex cable was torn so I got a new one. Now the digitizer responds to touch but I have no display. It worked before the teardown. I have rechecked every connection like a million times to no success. Is it possible the screen just gave out? I figure since everything else works on that side of the phone (digitizer, send/end buttons etc.) that the flex is getting the appropriate signal. What should I do now?
