Replaced flex cable, now keyboard and other buttons not working

Has anyone ran into any issues after replacing the flexible ribbon cable on the impression?  Last week I started loosing the display intermittently and then it finally went out.  I bought another flex cable on eBay, installed it, now here is the strange part.

I can push the power button down to turn on the phone, it goes through the boot screen, then finally comes to the home screen.  The touchscreen works fine, but none of the physical buttons work including the power button (which worked to turn on the phone).  I've taken the phone back apart 3 times to verify that I didn't shift or unhook any of the other cables.

Is there any recalibration that needs to be done after the cable replacement?  Would flashing the firmware (to go back to factory settings) help in any way?

Any thoughts would be helpful!!!

where did you find a guide on how to replace the flex cable and how hard was it, and where did you find a place to buy one?

glad you go it fixed! I am just waiting for the day my phone start indicating it needs to be operated on. have had it a bit over a year now...
