I finally fixed my problem. Actually, the flex cable that I had bought had a slight manufacturing defect on 3 of the traces. It let the phone power on, but would not pass the keyboard input signals after power-up. I emailed the supplier and they sent me another one that had been fully tested. Just put the new one in and the phone works just fine now. I was hoping that was all it was because I could find no one else on this site that had a similar problem.

Not bad spending 10 bucks to save replacing the phone...
