Screen won't light up unless keyboard is out

Has anyone else had this problem? My screen won't light up unless the physical keyboard is slid out. If I keep it off track and not completely closed with my thumb while holding it the screen will stay lit up. As soon as I let go and it closes completely it then goes and turns off.

I'm assuming if there is a fix to this then it requires taking the phone apart?

I think I'm eligible for a new phone in December. In a way I can't wait, but at the same time, I don't know what phones to even look at anymore. Any suggestions?

And that would require taking apart the phone to repair it I'm guessing?

That's totally out of the question for me. *sigh* And I guess I won't need this forum anymore. I dropped my phone and it won't even turn on now. I called AT&T because I have the insurance so they are sending me an LG Vu. The Impression was good to me while I had it and I've enjoyed my time here at the forum learning a bunch of tips and tricks!
