The title explains the most of it.  I left my phone in my pocket after a hard day's work on top of a roof and took a dip in the lake.  I pulled the battery, opened it up, and dried it for a week in a container full of rice.

To my suprise it fired right up when I put the battery in it and everything seems to work.  Well, except the touch screen is way off and I cannot get to the menu to recalibrate.  I did the master reset to no avail.  I tried getting into the admin portion but I cannot touch the enter part of the screen to enter the code.  Am I SOL?

Has anyone figured out a way to do a recalibrate without getting to the menu?

Thanks!

I suggest you give it another week. Not much you can do.

from what i have read the best amount of time to leave it in the rice is for 2-3 weeks instead of 1 week.

I just replaced the digitizer last night in a last ditch effort to fix my phone.  The install took about 45 minutes using the YouTube video and wasn't too terribly painful.

When I fired up the phone, the digitizer worked great and I was able to calibrate it.  But after charging the phone last night, the screen was unresponsive.  I pulled the battery while the phone was on, re-installed it, and fired up the phone.  The touch screen worked again.  I rode my motorcycle to work (15 min ride) and the phone touch screen doesn't work again.  This is basically what it was doing after I let it dry out for a month or so on rice, but the touch screen was way off and couldn't be calibrated.  Everything looked pretty clean and free of debris when I took it apart, the phone was only used for two months before I took it for a swim.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like you have a short somewhere when the phone warms up from being on...Glad you were able to change out the digitizer no problem, of course, water damage may not always be completely visible.  Also, the cord is fully secure, not wiggly or anything?

i think its the battery because i have two batteries and with one, my screen is unresponsive and i have to turn it off and on again for the screen to work, but as soon as i use my other battery, it works perfect and never makes the screen unresponsive...so maybe the battery has short circuit if it got wet

Well, after sitting in my kitchen cupboard for the last two months, I decided to give the phone another try.  I put my SIM card in it, installed the battery, and fired it up.  The phone came to life like always and was fully operational to include the touch screen.  I charged up the battery for a few hours and began playing with it by sending random text messages to friends and relearning how to use the phone again.  After an hour or so all was good.  I then took the phone to work, carried it around all day, and it still worked.  Today is the second day of normal operation and all appears to be good.

This thread has been a long drawn out saga and I'm sure not everyone has six months to wait for their phone to come back to life and giving it a bath.  But, there is hope at least and time is probably going to be your best friend.  So in short, the phone was completely submerged in a lake for several minutes while I was swimming.  I dried it off and opened it up as soon as I could to get as much of the water out as possible.  I then placed it in a container of rice for about a month, but it appears that gently warming it for a while with a hair drier might work better, replaced the digitizer which seems to be a weak link with this phone, left it to dry for another two months (again, the hair drier might have worked better), and now it works just fine.
