Change periodic notification interval

I was wondering the same thing when I saw this message a couple of nights ago, if you are refering to the text message alert always going off until you look at it.  I was disheartened when I saw the answer, but didn't let up.  I tried a couple of things, but it didn't work.  Last resort, tonight, I went to bing.com and did a search for tips and tricks.  I got to the samsung mobile usa site, put in the name of the phone and went to FAQs.  I typed in 'text message' in the search box.  I don't remember if it was on the first page or second page of faqs, but I found the answer.

Yes, you can change the alert to only go off once.  I didn't look to see if you can change the intervals between alerts, as that wasn't my goal.  Here's how:

from the main screen, tap on 'menu', then 'settings'.  Now, tap 'sound profile' and select then select one of the types, either normal whatever.  Once you select it, all the way at the top under the battery icon is the word 'call' with an arrow down.  touch the arrow down and you will be able to select 'message'.  Then change the features of the message alert.  you can even put your own recorded tone as the alert.  That said, I was using my phone to explain this and you can't change the intervals between alerts, you can only go periodic or once. 

Hope this helps anyone who gets annoyed with the constant reminder of something you can't tend to immediately, like me.
